Admission time
Hey girls,
So the hospital rang, and said my admission time is 7am on the 17th. I'm really pleased to be going in early so i'm not spending the day worrying, however it poses a bit of a problem with the kids. My Mum has offered to look after them, but she can't do before 9am. I was hoping my husband would be at the hospital with me for the whole thing, but i'm not sure that's possible now.
The nurse said i'll probably be in surgery by 8.30am, so he'll be there when i wake up. Did you girls have someone with you pre-surgery, is it important? Part of me thinks it may be easier to be there on my own (if he's nervous he'll make me worse!), but the other part thinks i might need a hand to hold.
Blimey...it's feeling really real now! xx

Re: Admission time
Hi MissCET I waited on my own both times. I didn't go into theatre until 7pm the first time and 4pm the second, my husband was there with my 14 month old for a while with my second as I had to be in at 10:30am but he only stayed for an hour cos of the baby. To br honest it was quite nice to laze around and watch a movie on my kindle and just chill. Being a working mum of three it was quite nice to relax! Don't worry too much if anything I would enjoy the hour you get to lie down and relax as afterwards you'll need help and be uncomfortable. Good luck! Xx

Re: Admission time
Made no difference to me hon I was reading mags whilst he watched tally lol! And I got irritated because my surgeon talked to him rather then me! It was far more imprtant for him to be there when I woke up xxx

Re: Admission time
It depends, my boyfriend was there for me and although he was just watching tv, to have him there was nice..
If you feel you would be ok then that's fine because it's an individual thing but if not then it would be good if you could make other plans such as the kids staying at their nans the night before? Or with a trusted friend or other family member to drop them round?
Xx

Re: Admission time
Thanks girls, i think the stress of trying to get the girls settled so early or the night before will be worse than being on my own! At least if they're with their Dad then i'm not worrying about them!
I will just have to think about the scenario positively - oooh the idea of watching a movie sounds lovely! xx

Re: Admission time
My husband was with me lovely, but to be honest, him being a bag of nerves just made my nerves so much worse so I'd have preferred he wasn't there if I'm honest. I'm not being horrible saying that, but I think I'd have been calmer on my own, but there's no way he would let me go alone... So, you'll be fine babe. Enjoy the private health care, relax and hubby will be there to see the booby reveal with you as you open your eyes. Xx

Yes of course, i remember you travelling to manchester on your own! To be honest, the earlier in the day the better for me...less chance of me panicking and walking out! xx

Ha Ha, love this forum - makes you think about things differently. I'll think of it like a little mini break from the husband and the kids :0) xx

Re: Admission time
Definitely. Enjoy some me te cos you'll need it after. Don't worry toouch about him rushing to be there straight after surgery -after my reop I was so out of it my husband got a sitter and sat with me for three hours in the evening after my surgery all I said was some gibberish about wildebeast and people playing with water in our house! I slept the rest of the time and he watched tv! You'll be fine the nurses will take great care of you and its actually quite nice to relax and be waited on for a change! X

Re: Admission time
Hey,
I had a friend take me to the hospital (admission time was 1230) she stayed til about 1pm then left me on my own nut it wasn't long before my surgeon came in to see how I was and do the markings for surgery. Went through medical history and was supposed to be second down but in the end was first due to an allergy (latex) so didn't have time to sit and worry.

Re: Admission time
I was totally on my own with my 1st ba and was ok.
As you're in nice and early there won't be ages to sit around and wait.
We can keep you company on the morning of your surgery hunny!
