Is it worth having a fitting pre-op?
I think so... I think people's perceptions of cup sizes would be soooo much better if they actually had a proper fitting pre-op so they can find out their actual size 'before' having their BA so they aren't shocked or feeling that they're smaller than expected post-op.
I went with my daughter on Saturday. She is tiny and has a bust, but not much of one, but she's happy with what she has and has been wearing a 32B for the longest time and I've been telling her for years that she needs to go and get fitted and finally she went on Saturday and was fitted into.... A 28DD!
Now most people's brains who don't understand cupsizes if they saw her wouldn't be able to compute the fact that she is a DD and I think if many women went pre-op for a fitting also, they too may find their 'cup size' is A LOT different to the one they're wearing and I think if you KNOW you're starting size, this gives you a much better indicator of the possible resulting size you'd achieve later.
The most wanted sizes when women go to see surgeons is actually a D or a DD as we've found here, but using my daughter as an example, who is small busted and IS already a DD, can you imagine her shock if she were to have a BA, maybe thinking she's a B and wanting to be a DD going up 3 cup sizes and then going naively for her fitting to find that she would then be G cup?!
I think it would really help so much... Not only for perceptions on cup sizes, but all of your support for your boobs comes from the band, so if you're not wearing the right band size, your boobs aren't getting the right support, so having a fitting to find out that band size 'pre-op' will help when buying sportsbras for ladies to know the correct size to buy so they know their boobs are getting the correct support Xx

Re: Is it worth having a fitting pre-op?
I think so too! Before I was wearing a 36 band, ive since found out im a 32! I agree that it helps with perceptions of size as many decide to have a BA and aim for that 'DD' but often, after finding out how individual that is some women will want to be bigger or in some cases smaller.
Now I know my band size and bra size I will be able to support them well meaning I should have a better look for longer x

Re: Is it worth having a fitting pre-op?
This is a fabulous post, definitely recommend getting measured pre op. I went a couple of weeks ago, I'd never been measured before and I'm 41, as you Jen I'd been wearing the wrong bra size for as long as I've been wearing bras. I was wearing a 34B pre babies and a 34A post babies, Boux Ave measured me a 32C, which I by no means look what you'd imagine a C to be.
Also it's a fab way to get excited and droll over all the gorgeous bras you'll be able to choose from post op.x

Definitely my first ever fitting I was told I was a 32b and it did fit comfortably but recently had another fitting elsewhere and turns out I'm a 30a :-(

Re: Is it worth having a fitting pre-op?
I agree 100% with this! I think so few women understand how cupsizes actually work, I try and explain using pics I have on the lappy of bras the same cup with different back bands, the band makes all the difference!
I'm around an F at 3weeks PO and if people were to ask me my size they generally react "F??? Really...? :/" (Yes I had 615 but my body eats CC so on the smaller side) so then I have to explain the whole thing haha.
I think it should be part of the consult process really.

Re: Is it worth having a fitting pre-op?
Yes definitely, although a lot of girls probably don't want to show their tiny boobs to the fitter. x

Re: Is it worth having a fitting pre-op?
We have a picture here we use regularly to try and help women understand the difference in cup size per band size.
All of these bars are D cups They simply go up in band size. Xx

This is another one I like, I think it's helpful seeing the bras on!

Re: Is it worth having a fitting pre-op?
Good thread and I totally agree.
After years if wearing the wrong size. 34b or 32b. Whatever felt about right. I had a fitting and was told 32c. I just found it hard to believe I had a C cup! As it was far from my imagine of big!!
It would never have entered my head to try a c cup before then!

I agree with the girls Bravissimo, or if you have any specialist lingerie shops nearby, they too are just as good. Xx
