Hi all,

What are your thoughts on this? I'm having my op on the 5th December and am wondering if you think I'll be up to making Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. i just wanted to see what all your thoughts are before inviting the inlaws.

I have to say that I couldn't have managed it tbh. I was still knackered everyday at that point and would've struggled to lift things x

hi hun,

tbh i'd be a bit careful... you may well feel up to it when the time comes, but the fact is that we are recommended to not lift anything heavy for 6 weeks (which includes things like heavy pots, casserole dishes, turkeys.. ;) )

also and this is just from seeing my mum do it every year, there is just so much running around and stress involved that it might not be a good idea to put yourself through this because you want to give your body maximum time to recover as best possible x

At two weeks post-op there's no way you'll be able to do dinner for yours and your extended family hun. If you have help to do the heavy work then you 'may' manage it, but if it were me I really wouldn't want to possibly deal with the stress if you're not able to cope and YOURE the one who's just had the major operation if you're planning on spending Christmas with your in laws would be so hard for them to host the dinner? You could then just relax and enjoy the day and rest when you need to lovely, so maybe suggest they host it, but you'll make dessert and maybe buy the turkey or something?

If families all muck in together it can be a happy for time for everyone, but I doubt if you're having to host babe it be a happy time for you at all at just 2 weeks post-op. Xx
