Hi ladies,

Please could some of you ladies help me out, I'm gutted (I don't know why!) just feel as though I am. I could really use some advice.

I had my consultation today at Transform with Mr Mahdi... I loved him as soon as I saw him I knew he was the surgeon for me... However when he asked me to take my top off so he can could some measurements and what have you, the first thing he said was, 'Ok, so I wasn't expecting this, your nipples shouldn't be that low.' He then also said something about my breasts having a hangover, I can't remember exactly what he said because after he had said that I just went into a zone. I thought I had great boobs Hysterical

I'm a C cup and he measured me as a 24 under my boobs. When we returned to the table he then told me he wouldn't be able to preform a BA without doing a breast uplift too? I was in total shock and started crying, I'm 21, so I didn't quite understand (although I do now!) why I would have to have an uplift. He said it's because, if I was to have breast implants in my boobs as they are now, my nipples wouldn't 'sit' normal and my breasts would look odd!!? I totally think everything he has said is legit, and I wouldn't doubt him for the world as he just seems too genuine and is one of the longest standing surgeons at Transform, but my aunty and mum think I should have a second opinion? What do you ladies think? I've obviously said I'll have an uplift because I want the boob job, but he was adamant he wouldn't preform a BA without the uplift first. Also, I wanted to go to an E/F but he told me because I'd be having an uplift he wouldn't be able to get me that big, he could only get me to a DD?

Regardless of what happened today, I still booked & and paid some money off my surgery. 29th January 2014 - Don't know why I did this I'm just an eager beaver. He wants me to go back in a month to have another consultation with him... So we will see.........

Sorry for the long post ladies.. Hope you've all had a good day Stars  x

Hiya

It sounds like you are really happy with your surgeon which is such a big thing. If a surgeon has told you that you need an uplift then you probably do to get the best results but if you're concerned go to other appointments to see what they say...

I'm in the same boat, I was told I needed an uplift when I thought I could just fill the excess skin (after 2 kids) but my surgeon said I would have to go as big as Jordan to fill the skin, I was gutted too but in the long run having an uplift is much better for me and will give me the best result. I'm 29 and was distraught as I didn't think I needed one. After taking before pictures today I can see that I do! My surgery is tomorrow.

I can understand how you're feeling but the scars will fade and you won't be able to see them. What sort of uplift did he suggest?

hi hun,

wow its a lot to take in isn't it, and a whirlwind of emotions this journey!

firstly, when did you book and pay hun, was it less than 7 days ago? because in that case you are still in the so-called 'cooling-off period' and if you were to cancel within this period they would have to give you all your money back.

what is always recommended is to get AT LEAST a second, and if in doubt also a third and fourth opinion, until you are completely satisfied that the procedure recommended to you is actually justified. especially when it involves an uplift as well, which will be a bigger surgery than 'just' a straightforward BA.
sorry to sound harsh there x

also another bit of advice is not to get too hung up up on the cup size. as experience and research will show you, what you think a DD cup looks like will be something else to the next person, as it all depends on the back size. for example, a 30DD is a completely different size to a 36DD. the best thing is to find photos of the 'look' you want to achieve and to show these to your surgeon at consultations so you are both on the same page and working towards the same result.

my advice to you would be to do some more research, have a read around here as well as it is a fountain of knowledge, and go for some more consultations to get more opinions on the procedure you heard that you will require.
and maybe cancel until you have looked into everything a bit more.

it is a big decision and shouldnt be taken lightly, though of course we all understand here that once you're on the road of this journey, you're of course impatient to get it done!!

hope this helped hun, really don't want to sound harsh, but trying to help, and if you have any more questions do feel free to post away here.

everyone here is really friendly and helpful x

I know a girl who was told she needed an uplift but then other surgeons told her she def didn't. So even if u get advice and take it back to the surgeon u clearly feel is right. No harm lovely xx

awww babe Hug i think you should get a second or maybe even third opinion just to put your mind at rest, or try going for a BAAPS/BAPRAS certified surgeon's opinon i think it costs about £25 but they're really highly respected and qualified

is it just me though or is it kind of not nice that he commented saying "i wasn't expecting that", i mean i dunno if a doctor said that to me i'd feel pretty crap about it too it's not very professional! shrug

It's a tough one, you feel confident with the surgeon which is the main thing, but you could have other consultations in the mean time just make sure you are happy... Although 21, if you need an uplift it's so important you do have one because a BA will just give you a bigger version of what you have now xxxx

Hiya.
I can't really offer advise as I am pretty new to all this too.
I just couldn't read your post and not respond.

I think most ladies would recommend another consultation. Its a big decision and to get one or two more surgeons opinions is common practice. Even if ou do end up with your original one.

Definitely see other surgeons hun ! Although you may feel he is the one, it may also have been the excitement of the 1st consultation - My 1st consultation was with a PCC @HMG and I was so sure she was the one, even though I had yet to meet the surgeon she suggested lol.

If you have other opinions and still decide he is the one for you at least you will feel confident in his decision and trust he will give you the results you are looking for. Contact Spire and see if you can arrange a couple of free 'mini-consultations', usually if you find a surgeon on their site you are interested in you can contact their PA directly to arrange this. Also contact MyBreast. It's a scary decision to make, but once you have seen a few surgeons and taken their opinions on board you should feel more able to make a confident and informed choice. Definitely try and get your money back that you have paid so far hun-if you do decide you still want to go ahead with him they will be more than happy to take the money back, don't worry about that :) xx

Thanks so much for all your replies, ladies. They have made me feel so much more at ease!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Thanks so much! Yeah I gave the money yesterday so I'm well within my cooling off period. Also, thanks so much for the information on the boob sizes, I didn't know that and that's also made me feel better.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - I didn't look at it like that but yeah you're right I'll just have a bigger vision of what I have now, and I completely understand now why I would need an uplift to an able the surgeon to preform a BA!

God I feel so much better after reading everyone's comments - thanks so much! I am however, in two minds to book another consultation, as Mahdi said to me yesterday, you could most probably get a Dr. to do you a BA without an uplift but after a few months they won't look great!? Grrrrr!! I thought booking a BA would be exciting for me haha! Xx

It's understandable your a bit shocked you need an uplift at 21 but we have other women who have also had this at a young age and although the scars seem scary, they do fade and you will get a better result overall... There are surgeons who are willing to do a lift and implants at the same time, others may prefer to do it in two stages so you will find a mix of surgery plans most likely x

Thanks Jeniifer- He also said because I'm mixedraced I will get more of a scarring I'm not too bothered about that though. But he said I really needed to think about it, hence the re consultation next month. I went a head and booked regardless but...  He said he wants me to quit smoking other wise he wont perform uplift, which is fine I don't smoke a lot anyway so that's easily done!! He said he would do the uplift and BA at the same time, surgery time two hours xx

Hi Boney. I've got to say, Im with BlueEyedSoul on this one. You should definitely get some more opinions and have a read around. You say you clicked with him, but he does seem a little rude! If theres any doubt in your mind at all, I would perhaps try and cancel and shop around a bit more. He may be absolutely right and an uplift is the only way. But without comparison, you wont know.

Have you had a look around in the Breast Augmentation Information threads? Theres a couple of great pics in there, including difference in bra sizes, and one which shows nipple heights for uplifts. They might help to make your decision.

Whatever you choose though, we're all here to help :)

Go and see a surgeon who uses the conical implants. They are designed for women who are borderline lift ( like meeeeee!) They have worked perfectly on me and i have definitely dodged the lift for now. The conicals are polyurethane which is something you will have to think about but i can highly recommend them and my boobs were resting on my ribs! There was nothing to them and they just hung. As you are so young and will be expecting a few BA's in your lifetime if you start now and the average is 10 years if i was you i would look at the conicals for the next few years then maybe factor in a lift if/when you have children as that is what utterly wrecked my boobs!
Its really worth getting more than one opinion too.

Amyblue - Wow, didn't even know there was such thing? If you don't mind me asking, who did yours? Thanks so much!! Xx

Yeah I've just booked another consultation with MYA so lets see what MYA have to say.... Only thing that is confusing me now is if a surgeon tells me they can actually do a BA without the uplift then who do I believe & go with? I just want nice big perk boobs that will look good for a few years before I get them done again... Xx

PS- Thanks for all your help ladies, you've all been great! So happy I found this forum xx

That's the reason why most of us have 3 consultations because we then have a majority... Surgeons will have different views on what the best plan is for you but at least having something to compare to, you go with the surgeon who makes you feel most confident..
And that would be great if you could give up smoking because it's proven that smoking increases the chance of infection xxx

The lovely Mr Staiano did mine, there is also Mrs Kat who uses the conical's in the Birmingham area so if you don't mind travelling they are really worth seeing.
If i was you i would get a consultation from a BAAPS or BAPRAS registered surgeon on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery. If you are a difficult case ( like me i was a pain in the **naughty word** case ha ) then you want the best who has the experience to guide you.
As far as i know ( Cookie please return for your holidays and help me here ! ) MYA do not use surgeons on the specialist register and this would concern me.
I can highly recommend my surgeon and i am sure there are other ladies on here that have also had great surgery from surgeons they can recommend too perhaps closer to you. Spire is a good place to contact as they only use the best too. Seriously get at least one consult from an experienced plastic surgeon before you sign up with anyone. If nothing else you will learn a lot and become an expert on breast implants Hysterical
If you want to see some pics of conical's before and after PM me. Bear in mind i am only 4 weeks post op so they are not the finished article yet and try not to vomit at the before  but i promise you the are not like a pair of cones stuck on my chest ha !! They might not be right for you but are worth considering if you can dodge the lift considering how young you are
