Aftercare Policies
I am so incredibly frustrated and upset!!
I am willing to part with over 6K to get my PIP's removed, uplift and new implants but when I ask for the terms and conditions of the "life time" after-care policies before I part with any money, I am met with you get all that info later!? really!!
OR the information I am sent is very ambiguous (sp?) it doesn't clearly state that CC is covered, just that if there is a complication that has been the surgeons error then a re - op is free!! well, CC is never going to be the surgeons error is it!
I feel everyone I am dealing with is very quick to want to take my money until I start asking them what if this goes wrong? I am just getting so frustrated, I just want everything in black and white before I pay.
Is this asking too much?
Has anyone dealt with a company / surgeon that has given you this information in writing before you have made any payments?

Re: Aftercare Policies
I went with transform and was given this in writing before I booked... I got a information book to read through... I got a pack from THG and mybreast but I do know what you mean about it being frustrating ...
Its a big commitment and when you feel as though they are skirting round the important parts to cover their backs its really annoying! xx

Re: Aftercare Policies
Some companies promise the world but are quick to make excuses when you actually need them, maybe find a private surgeon and see what they say directly, sometimes just the fact you know you can access them directly at any point is enough to make you feel safer going with them. Most private surgeons will provide free re-ops within the 1st year, and anything after that is down to their discretion xx

Re: Aftercare Policies
You're not asking too much at all, your aftercare should be laid out in black and white for you before you make your decision. Theyre trying to make a quick buck out of you, and I wouldn't stand for it.
Which company is it? if you're happy with them and the surgeon, call their bluff. Tell them you're not prepared to use them if theyre not prepared to thoroughly answer all your questions to your satisfaction.

Re: Aftercare Policies
The big complains are very quick to take your money however leave you in limbo or high and dry when a complication arises.
It's not too much to ask at all to see the aftercare policy at all.
Have you seen a baapas or bapras registered surgeon yet Hun not one through one of the big companies?

Re: Aftercare Policies
It's dealing with the surgeon directly/ through their PA. I have avoided the bigger companies, as felt far too much pressure with it all!
Have managed to get an email confirming what is included now! :) I just think its so important to know the fine print of these conditions. X x

Re: Aftercare Policies
My aftercare policy was all given to me in black and white AND my surgeon sat with me and wanted to read it over and then I got to go away think about it and then sign it
If I'm honest, and yeah ok my surgeon moved down to Manchester, he as exceeded my aftercare by miles
He has helped with travel costs hotel costs and gave me back some money in a cheque a fair amount actually. He has been in direct contact almost weekly since I had my probs and he has also directly spoken to my gp to sort out my health probs which has rescheduled my reop
I'm so glad you got it all sorted and to anyone pre op Gillies I really can't state enough go into all details especially aftercare cause you might need it one day xxx

Re: Aftercare Policies
It's a complicated topic because there are two different policies to take in to account, the policy of the clinic and the policy of your implant company.
It's where a lot of people sadly get caught out, they hear that their Implants have life time cover and assume that means re ops are free but it's not the case.
If your implant company offers lifetime cover it will cover the implant it's self only. IF you have a rupture, leak or it becomes damaged in some way new implants will be provided for free however you may still be asked to cover the surgical costs. Most implant companies now offer liftefime cover for breakages and somewhere around 2-4 years CC cover.
Clinics themselves usually offer free re op's to fix any problem that was due to surgical error within the 1st year but thats about it, with that being said if they wont admit it was a surgical error there is little you can do (which is what happened to me).
Plastic surgeons are very much business first, the title DR can lead us to forget that!
Around 35% of women who have implants will at sometime need a revision so coving re ops in the aftercare would be very costly to them.

Re: Aftercare Policies
I had my first at The Avoca Clinic in Co.Wicklow Ireland and my revison at Mya London. My first clinic said I would have free re ops if down to Dr error, I had complications due to him over dissecting my muscle and making my pocket too large, despite several Drs confirming my issues and stating they were my Drs fault they just denied it... I have the opinion that most clinics are cowboys to some small extent, they will try to get out of helping if they can!
Glad you got your cover in writing 5 years CC cover is excellent! You must be really happy with that :) Good luck! x
