Lisa dear if the cough is still bothering you boil the kettle, squeeze a lemon, add a couple of spoons of honey and then sugar to taste - works WONDERS.

Re: Chesty cough 2 days preop
Ha ha thanks for cheering me up girls! I've had a mare of a day with getting stuck in traffic on the m6 for an hour with a screaming baby. This is one of the most stressful things I have had to deal with! My little girl is really poorly with a cold now and teething to boot. Phew what a day. Anyway....
I went to see my go and he had a listen to my chest and let my little boy listen too bless. Anyway he said there was no mucus on my chest and my throat seemed clear. He said there is no infection and no virus - he looked at the kids as they were coughing all over the place and said they had a common cold and if I had that coming I would be fine for surgery.
What a relief!! I'm still going with the oj and lemon drink to hope I don't fully get their stonking colds!
Thanks again for all your support and making me smile.
I feel like a right drama queen now!! Xx

Re: Chesty cough 2 days preop
Ahh thanks guys, you're the best I've never tried that Gleaming do you get it from the chemist? I just feel so bad for her - she spits all her calpol out and there's not much I can't do about that!
Jen, it probably hasn't helped the kids are ill so I'm utterly paranoid! I'm still not letting myself get too excited just in case.
Charlee 3 days for you! Just think of those Halloween pumpkins! I still think you should go to the hospital as a pumpkin!
Thanks again you lovely people xx

Yeah you can get it from any chemist hun, it's liquid lidocaine so basically like a very mild local anesthetic, but because it's liquid it's easier to rub on the gums-I find bongela a bit more fiddly. It's in a little glass bottle that looks like whiskey lol. Xx

Hello everyone, was reading the thread and picked up what was said about not taking vitamins- why is this and how long before surgery should you stop taking them? Noone has mentioned this to me and I have my op a week today!

Re: Chesty cough 2 days preop
It is for a number of reasons but mainly because it can affect bleeding and therefore can create blood clots..
they can also affect the way in which your medication will work after surgery and in certain situations this can increase your change of getting an infection...
There are a few other reasons also though... I would ring up your clinic or speak to someone about this as not every lady is told to stop taking them however it is advised for safety xxx
