5 weeks post op incisions
Hi ladies,
I've taken a bit if a break from you all as my booby brain wasn't improving! Lol I need some advice tho. This evening lefties incision site was really itchy. I've taken off the steri strips and I think I pulled away a chunk of stitch and scab. It looked moist on the steri strip and the actual site looks pretty good if a little pink but it looks a little weepy, clear stuff. What should I do with it now? Air it? It's still really itchy! Any help ladies? Xxx

Give the clinic a call in the morning babe and DON'T scratch!
My incisions have been free of steri strips and dressings after week one and I've got dissolvable stitches so can't comment on that really hon. Mine look pretty healed apart from a wee bit of scabbing where the end of the stitches, they've never been itchy but they do hurt still.
I'm sure more girls will be along with more useful advice soon chick xxx

Re: 5 weeks post op incisions
It sounds quite normal that it's pink where a scab has been pulled off and as long as it's only weeping a little and it's clear not yellowey...
I asked the same question and was told I don't need to air them they will be fine in my sports bra... Maybe they have started itching again because taking the strips off has disturbed them...
If you want you can all the clinic but I think it sounds normal :)
Hope everything else is going well :) xx

Re: 5 weeks post op incisions
It sounds just fine babe. Sounds like you pulled a spitting stitch away with the steri strip.
Just be sure the area is clean and yes... Getting some air to it will do it the world of good. I found after showing and patting dry the wound then a cool setting on the hairdryer to blow dry the wound thoroughly, then the bedroom window open, some nice fresh air coming through the wound and just laying back exposing the wound to the fresh air for even just 15 minutes will do will really help to get that sorted for you babe.
Keep an eye on it over the next couple of days and if you notice it changing i.e going red or seeing any pus coming from the site then call the clinic and ask them to check it over.
But from your explanation it sounds perfectly normal lovely. Xx

Re: 5 weeks post op incisions
Thank you ladies! My OH has been looking at it each time I've been fretting and saying I'm sure its fine, it looks nice, there's no open wound or anything. But its always more reassuring to hear it from someone who's been there.
I pretty much saw the knotted end of the stitch on the steri strip when I took it off, it just freaked me out a little bit.
The itching has pretty much gone, just feels a bit raw, like when you accidentally knock a scab off.
Thanks again, and Cookie I hope your healing is going perfectly and your issues are now all sorted xx

That's exactly what I felt too Katy, it felt a little raw afterwards but I guess it must be the air getting to it and obviously where a little bit of scab had come off :) xx
