Another question about bra sizes!
So I've seen marks still add the inches on when they measure you so I won't get measured there but if I go and get fitted by a specialist will that be the size I should buy if I wanted to buy a bra from marks?
Hope I've got across what I mean?

Re: Another question about bra sizes!
I don't think so.... It's trial and error really because bra sizes aren't the same in every shop as far as I'm aware... Of you buy a 34E sized bra in one shop and it fits perfectly it doesn't mean you will fit into a 34E somewhere else guaranteed ...
But don't quote me on that, I'm not 100% sure ... Havnt had to worry about that yet lol xx

Re: Another question about bra sizes!
Not necessarily, but only based on manufacturing differences. If Marks added the 4, but then made their bras to fit their size guide, it wouldnt be a problem. The issue is that they add the 4, but their manufacturing doesnt, hence buying the wrong size. If you get measured by a specialist, then you can always take that as a starting point, and it may be that the Marks bras in the same size fit perfectly. But the cut could be different somehow, or the material not stretch so well, so you might be a sister size. My 'regular' size right now is 32DD, but I had to buy a 34D in one bra from the same store because the band was lace rather than cotton, so didnt stretch as well. Doesnt fit quite as well tho.
Hope that helps :)

I think it's similar to clothes - if you bought a perfect pair of jeans in one shop, it doesn't mean that the same size pair of will fit so nicely from another shop... It's best to try before you buy, or get used to buying a few and returning :) xxx

Re: Another question about bra sizes!
Thanks for the replies! I was just thinking if u go up a back size u come down a cup size don't you that's why I was wondering if say in marks I would be having to buy bigger backs then what I am for them to fit going by their measurements.
Does anyone know what hook your meant to fasten your bra on as well?
Never knew after having my op I'd still find a million questions to ask lol xxx

Youre meant to fasten it on the loosest hook at first. This will then allow for you to come in as it gets looser in time. If you've gone up a band though, middle is fine.

Yes, they add the +4 so you would be in a bigger band but a smaller cup size I guess meaning you won't have the right support?! I it's all confusing really! Surely if you measure a 32 back then your a 32?! Xx

Re: Another question about bra sizes!
It is confusing I totally agree!
When i got measured in bravissiomo, I came away with a bra and a little card stating my size. However the lady said that some bras are more or less stretchy around the band, or fuller cup, or generally just smaller/bigger from that manufacturer etc so the size that will actually fit may vary depending on these factors so alway best to try it on to be sure.

Another who is confused. Yes in theory if you go up a band size then you go down a cup size, but surely the fit will be wrong because your wires will be in the wrong place.

Re: Another question about bra sizes!
After trying on a few styles of bras over a couple of months you learn which bra types you favour and which manufacturer of bra is your preference babe.
Yes, its a pain to think that if you want to have a different type of bra shape/make then you're going to have to try them on all over again to ensure you get it right, but once you're sorted with your preferences you don't have to worry about sizes anymore and just order online then if you wish when you need to replace bras.
I have my favs - Elle McPhereson, Gorgeous (Debenhams), Freya, Parfait and Wonderbra.
Between these bras I have all I want from a bra, so I'm sorted for life now lol.
Its just like with anything.... You have your favourite shops where you find you get your personal best fit and you tend to veer to these shops when you need something to wear. It'll get the same with your bras as you find you the ones that best suit your buddy type. Xx

Re: Another question about bra sizes!
hi hun,
yes, 'roughly' you will be the same size even in m&s, but like the girls have said, it's like with any other item of clothing, the sizes can vary between brands / shops.
i for example got measured at bravissimo as a 30E (which is exactly what i had already guessed for myself through trying on different bras), and i then went to m&s after my fitting and bought another bra in 30E as well.
but of course it depends a little on the brand and fit etc so sometimes you will find yourself going up a cup size with the same back size, or sometimes maybe varying the back size etc. but you will learn over time.
i'm still learning myself, but at my fitting at bravissimo i asked loads of questions about how a bra should fit and that really helped me understand what i should be looking for x

Thanks for all replies
I'm trying to gear myself up to get measured I'm really nervous for some reason! I'm eight weeks tomorrow and they are still really firm so I dunno whether to wait a bit longer and I love my sports bra can't imagine not having it on 24/7!
