Facial dermal
I have a few piercings that I know have to be removed or replaced with plastic retainers
But my one concern is my cheek bone facial dermal, I can't take it out as it needs to be surgically removed and although I am on my doc minor op waiting list to try n get it out before surgery I'm worried I won't be able to get it removed in time :(
Will this put a hold up on my boobie day?
I have had an operation a few years ago with it in when I had a motorbike accident and my surgeon then, just covered it with a plaster, but that was ligament repair of my skiers thumb
My pcc has told me it has to be removed , has anyone else got facial or body dermals and was still able to get operated on?xxx

Re: Facial dermal
I don't have any dermal s but on my checklist when I was admitted it said any piercings which could not be removed may be cut to be removed in theatre. Including dermal piercings
I'm not sure what that entails but hopefully you'll be ok. To just tape it over as it won't be too much I. The way I guess. Perhaps phone your hospital to double check

Re: Facial dermal
I think they said it has to be removed due to the electrical current thing they use to stop the bleeding and with my dermal being metal, it will attract the current and burn my skin/face, I will be more than happy for them to cut it out during surgery if needs must , rather that than have my very long awaited boobie day postponed haha xx

Re: Facial dermal
You won't be able to have the surgery with that piercing, check with the hosp if they will cut it out during surgery, if not you'll have to go private to get it out so your boobie day doesn't get postponed x

Re: Facial dermal
You WILL be able to have a BA with the piercing hun if it wont come out, you just need to discuss it with the surgeon beforehand and they'll cover the piercing up and you'll have sign a disclaimer before going into surgery. If you're happy to sign the disclaimer, knowing there's a risk of a burn should they need to use electrocautery to control a possible bleed then that's fine hun. Xx
