You're surgeon should have told you or wrote it on your post op notes for you. It differs person to person, some for 2, I was for 6. If its not written in your discharge notes, call your surgeon and double check. Don't let the nurse or clinic tell you, it has to be from your surgeons advise.
If your uncomfortable try putting cotton pads under the chaffing. Also, make sure you've got it on correctly, as I was wearing it wrong for a week. Wrap it round you back at bra level, then pull it up and over. It'll stop it hurting your pits so much!

Surgeons preference, I think it's more for unders to help encourage them down. But don't worry. I wasn't told I'd have one beforehand, and not all girls do have to wear them.

Some women's muscles are just so tight lovely that the surgeon feels you will benefit from the binder to help encourage the implants to settle into position. Its not necessarily an unders thing, not everyone has to wear them, but if your surgeon feels its what it takes to help YOU achieve a good result from wearing one then that's what you'll get.
Your surgeon should have let you know how long you'll be in the binder Whitt, so maybe ask when you go for your first wound check.
Its causing a lot of discomfort you might find the cotton wool wadding placed around the areas which are irritating you a great help to ease that pressure, such as under arms lovely. Xx

Your surgeon should have given you all the info about how long to wear the binder for. Some girls only have to wear it for a short time, other can be 6 weeks. If in any doubt about how long to wear it, give your surgeon or clinic a quick call xx

Aw Whitt, its not that bad *hugs*. Me and Blueeyedsoul had ours on for 6weeks. Trust me, once you get it on comfy you wont notice its there. Pad it out where you can, and of course you have the small freedom when you can shower. And moisturise! But it'll fly by, trust me. And it really doesnt look too bad under clothes, people wont notice it, or you can make it look like a vest under tees.
