Indigestion 2 days post BA? Empty Indigestion 2 days post BA?

Post by CharlieGirlEvan 30th July 2013, 2:57 pm

I've only ever had indigestion around 9 yrs ago when pregnant with my son. Is it possible that surgery has given it me again? Feeling a bit of burning sensation in my throat- feel a bit sick- keep swallowing- keep breathing very heavily and chest is very tight- stomach a bit sickly. Anyone else felt like this- could it be linked to the painkillers and possibly constipation as i have not been to the loo since Saturday.Any experiences or suggestions ladies? xx

Its probably the painkillers as you suspect hun.

If you feel able, it would be best to stop taking the heavy painkillers now and just stick with paracetamol if you need any at all.

Painkillers can make you feel ever so sickly and sometimes hinders your recovery rather than helps.

You should feel much better in a day or two after stopping taking the painkillers babe.

You may also want to get some sennakot in for yourself, its just a mild laxative but will help you 'go' walking too will help to stimulate the bowel, so if you feel able do get yourself out and have a walk lovely. If you're feeling bad though, just walking round the house every Couple of hours will help along with a good diet and plenty of fluids too.

All very common hun. You may find this thread [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] helpful through your early recovery. Xx

From my research yes its very common for women to have indigestion or bloating after a GA... To help with the constipation you can take some senokot or similar to help... nibble when you can too help with the sickness and drink lots of water... Apart from that, hope your recovery is going well :) Congrats on your BA xx

Thank you both- good to know it can be common to get indigestion... do either of you know if it is ok to take something or should I contact the clinic where I had my BA? I will get hubby to get some senokot on way home from work. Will also make sure I drink plenty too. I'm a bit scared to stop taking strong painkillers- I haven't had any real pain but scared incase I do! Might take the ones I am due in 1/2 hr then stop after them! xx

You're absolutely fine to stop taking the pain killers don't worry. At four days post-op you're over the worst now babe, so its perfectly OK so Ne need to be scared Hug

Its also just fine to take the sennakot, so don't worry about that either hun. Once you've 'been' and you're up and about more without painkiller you'll soon start to feel back like your old self. Xx

Try a glass of milk to help ease the indigestion, I had terrible heartburn after my BA. X

Yes it'll be the pain killers and possibly anti bs.

Sennokot for consulation and live bio yogurt to help with the  indigestion and gut and should be taken whilst taking anti bs as anti b s also kill the good bacteria in your gut.
