Filming your op
Hi Ladies
So my hubby had knee surgery today with Spire, and after the surgeon came back to tell me he was still alive and it was a complete success, he handed me a USB stick with a film of the operation on it! I've not watched it yet, but am very intrigued to do so.
So it got me thinking - Did anyone on here have their BA filmed? Was it an option presented to you, or did you ask? Did the surgeon ask to film it for medical/teaching purposes? Or would you have liked it to be filmed? I was thinking a couple days after mine out of morbid curiosity that I would have liked to have seen my op. Not just the ones you can find on the web, specifically my op. At least to just confirm that it was definately the surgeon I picked doing the work!!
What are your thoughts or experiences? xx

Re: Filming your op
It was never offered or mentioned to me for my op, don't think I'd want to watch it though, I'm a bit squeamish
Re: Filming your op
Funny you should ask, as I DID ask for mine to be filmed or offered to be filmed. THG advised they weren't filming currently so declined my offer/request. I would have loved to have see the whole op.

Re: Filming your op
Wow he gave you a USB stick with the op on! Glad you OH's op went well.
Spire never asked/said anything to me about filming my BA- however even if they did I don't think I could bring myself to watch it. Think it would freak me out just because it would be my body getting sliced open! But if they wanted to film it for teaching purposes then I don't think I would mind because it would be helping others (as long as they didn't catch site of my face, looked awful on the morning of my op haha!)
I have managed to watch a few BA's on TV since my op, I think now I've gone through it it doesn't bother me as much as before.
Let us know how the viewing for the knee op goes !

Re: Filming your op
I am hoping that mine will be filmed, my surgeon films a lot of his ops, especially PIP replacements so I am going to ask him to film mine and give me a copy, I really want to see what I have been living with for the past few years and what is causing me so much pain. I don't mind watching that kind of stuff at all and have watched all the pip vids on YouTube.
Would also be good to know what happened in that space of life that I blinked away! Lol xx

Oh my god!!! No I am sooo squeamish I would never want to see lol! I don't like watching other people being cut open sync on these tv shows let alone myself!
I don't think I would like to be filmed either! If it was the done thing then I would accept it but I would say yes if it was an option I don't think!!
For those who think the opposite though good on you!! Looking at it from the other point of view, I can see how it would be very interesting!

Re: Filming your op
I'm glad your hubby's op went well xx
I wish this was something I had asked before my BA, I would have loved to have seen what went on. Filming wasn't offered to me, but if it had, or if I had thought of asking myself, then yes I would definatly have had it filmed, and yes I would have been the first to watch it!
I did watch loads of YouTube vids before my op, so I was fully aware of what went on, but it's not quite the same as seeing it performed on yourself.
Do let us know if you do get it filmed hun x

Re: Filming your op
I would love for mine to be filmed! Having watching countless PIP removals and replacements on YouTube I would be interested in watching my own! Like Dafneylou, I have seen the extreme cases and the "lucky" ones and would love to watch to find out which category mine fell into - gross I know - but I would love it!
I haven't even thought to ask though!

Re: Filming your op
From what the surgeon said of my second op I'm glad I wasn't offered/had filming. Sounded like it was pretty gruesome!
My next op... Yeah, I think I would like it filmed. I've put so much thought and detail into my next surgery so I think I'd like a souvenir of the one op I had 'full' control over. Xx

Re: Filming your op
I would love to have it filmed or have photographs taken, its something I am going to ask my surgeon about when I go in for my tummy tuck in Jan!

Re: Filming your op
in hindsight i wish mine had been filmed!
would have been an interesting watch, and also a confirmation that it actually was my surgeon who did the op as i never saw him in theatre, only before and afterwards in my room! (call me paranoid haha)

Re: Filming your op
Just watched hubby's knee op, it was so cool! (Though my definition of cool may differ to others...!) it was the view from the endoscope inside his knee, so it showed them shaving away the excess cartalidge and pulling the new ligament from his hamstring through his knee!Surprisingly good quality!

Re: Filming your op
It would depend on how exposed I am during the surgery but if it didnt show any lady garden or naked breasts I would probably put it on as a "watch at your own risk" video!!

Re: Filming your op
Had a reply from my surgeons pa. She is sending my details on to the surgeon to see if it would be ok to film my tummy tuck or at least take photos and I should hear by the end of the week if its ok!

Re: Filming your op
That sounds really interesting. I'd quite like to have mine filmed. I find surgery fascinating. It would be cool to have it on film, although I'm not sure that it would be one to share with the family! Could you imagine sitting them all down, like they were watching your wedding video!! Heehee!x

Re: Filming your op
Haha lady garden you made me laugh! You'll have to let us know what they say =D
I wish i had mine filmed but tbh it wasn't presented as an option and i didn't think to ask. Would just have been interested to see how far down he made my new breast fold and how much scoring he actually did inside my breasts because in my notes he put that it was "excessive"

Re: Filming your op
Surgeon has got back in touch today, I wont be able to have the surgery filmed cos they wont have the staff free to do it and they wont allow anyone else in theatre to do it but the surgeon is very happy to let me have photos taken during the operation so I can see what happened from a photographic perspective!
