what size did you want? and what did you end up?
Hey,
so I've heard its pretty common to end up with a larger size than you bargained for so i was just wondering what the margin of error is, so to speak. I know that we cant just ask for a size and be guaranteed it but we can have a size estimate in our heads and the surgeon should know roughly what we're going to be post ba? Correct me if I'm wrong as I'm still pre ba so maybe i have the wrong idea. So I'm wondering what size you expected to be post sugery and what size you actually were after dropping/fluffing and being measured. Have any of you got less than you asked for?xx

Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
Hi Kelly, I didn't go by numbers or letters. I took photos of what I wanted to look like after, they not only showed the size but how natural/fake looking I wanted them. I spent months looking at boobs on the net!!! My surgeon took these into account but also my anatomy, age and lifestyle. Have to say he got it pretty spot on to what I wanted. :)

Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
The main reason women end up with a 'larger size' than expected isn't at all because the size/volume of the breast is larger, its all about our own perceptions of cup sizes.
If you look at the picture below what size would you think the bras are?
I suspect you'd imagine that as the bras gets bigger, the cup size gets bigger also.
The answer is that ALL these bras are the same cupsize. They are ALL a DD but with different 'band sizes'
Hard to get your head around isn't it, so when asking for a DD cup, you'll be imagining that its one of the larger bras in the picture, because we've been brain washed by the media who quote almost every big busted model in their magazines to have a DD which a large size when seeing their big boobs, so this is how our brain thinks, you 'think' your DDs should look just as big as the models. In reality, the models aren't a DD. this just sounds seemingly like the 'ideal size' so it makes them appealing to their readers.
When women have a BA, EARLY POST-OP you may read on forums such as ours that women feel their boobs are smaller than expected. This is because of their perception of size.
When they go for their fitting and get measured in E,F,FF etc.. They're actually amazed that this is what they measure and can't get their head around how they can be that size when in their mind their boobs look smaller than that.
You'll often read: "I measure an F for example and yet I look a D cup. Again...all down to perception.
Its impossible to look a D cup if you fill an F cup! If you fill it! You look it!
This is why going into consultations and discussing 'cup sizes' it can result in misunderstandings between surgeons and patients. Your perception of a D cup may be the biggest in the picture above and yet your surgeons perception may be somewhere in the middle so you're not thinking about the same size at all.
Taking a picture in to show your surgeon the 'look' you want rather than discussing the 'size' you want is a much better way to ensure you 'get' what you want!
Surgeons work in volume (CCs) not cup sizes, so being able to see what you want gives a surgeon a much clearer idea of how much volume would be required to give you the look you're hoping for. Xx

Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
Hi, I asked roughly to look like a D but explained I wanted more what was best fit for my body shape. Your PS should advice you on what will look and work best for your body and lifestyle.
Try not to get too hung up on sizes and aim for your desired look. I did get a little hung up thinking I didn't want massive cup sizes but tbh it's more relevant getting close to the look you want rather then the cup size. xx

Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
I told my surgeon i wanted to be a C cup. I am a really small frame and i was terrified of being a little 7st5lb in weight and having huge boobies! I also kept it a secret so didn't want to have to explain any dramatic changes in size. I am 4 days post op and i have exactly what i asked for. I think they key is having a clear understanding in your own mind, bringing images to ur surgeon and really getting across what you want to the surgeon. like the girls say, cup sizes mean different things to different people xxx

Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
Totally agree with cookie, I didn't understand bra sizes pre op. I wore a 34B (too big) and stuffed it full of padding. I thought I wanted a D/DD as that's what I assumed was a nice full cup size which it is. But it's not the size I had in my head for myself, luckily I'd been on this forum in the lead up to my BA and took pictures to show my surgeon. I went to try on implants at another consultation and we tried a couple on, I thought they looked quite small so asked if I could go bigger and he handed me 410cc which he said were the biggest he felt comfortable going to. I ended up with bigger than a DD but with the size I'd imagined in my head.
Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
I wanted to be about an E cup and got measured a 34G in Boux Avenue. Having said that i fit into a 36E in New Look quite nicely and if anything that is a little too big. I would say i look a D cup at most tho. I used to wear a 36D x2 cup size bras which in theory should look a 36E but my boobs look smaller than they did with those padded bras on. Certainly dont get hung up on asking for a bra size tho, take a photo instead so you both know exactly what you are looking for X
Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
I agree with the other girls, don't get hung up on size, go for a look! I wasn't fortunate enough to realise I could take pictures with me to show the look I wanted. I explained to my surgeon that I would like the skin to be filled. He asked if I has a size in mind, I said a full C small D. He smiled politely and said he will fill my breasts for me, but not to think about the cup size! Well I now measure an F cup. I'm so pleased I didn't get hung up on the C/D I wanted, as any smaller and they wouldn't have been big enough, any bigger and I would have looked stupid xx
When you hear people say D cup, you picture Katie price and all the other models with their lovely big boobies, but reality is, that's not the case! Katie price is far bigger than a D cup!

I wanted a DD and have been measured as a 30FF/G. However, as cookie said, it's all about perception. How i look now, is how i would have imagined a D cup. I would throw all talk of cup sizes out the window and just base your decisions on how you want them to look.

Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
Hi I wanted between 400-450cc as that's what I had researched would give me the look I wanted, the first ps I saw recommended 310cc teardrops or smaller, the next said 390 rounds then we agreed on the 420 rounds that I have. I had breast fed so knew I liked and suited bigger boobs even tho I am petite. I am so so glad I got these, I would've been disappointed with any smaller. Happy to say i do not need any visit from the "fluff fairy" although fine if she does arrive! I measure a 30FF in a Freya bra at bravissimo. I have learnt that they can be very easily hidden or dressed down during wk, honestly they r almost non existent under a looser cardi or shirt, but in a fitted dress at weekend or bikini etc they r just what I wanted- glamourous n just on the right side of "big"! Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
wow, thank you for the input ladies... The picture which cookie posted is excellent in demonstrating the perceptions i had. I definately have to spend more time looking at pictures of boobs i like the look of, rather than having a set size in my head.xx

Re: what size did you want? and what did you end up?
Another good idea is to measure what band size you are
and then have a look at the different cup sizes in bra's of that band size this will give you an idea of how big you actually would like to go to ,by a cheap bra in that size, take it this and the pics of the look you are hoping for with you to your consultation and your surgeon being the expert can then work out the volume/size of implant needed to achieve what your after.
