Who did you tell about your boob job?

I was wondering who you girls told about your breast augmentation and why? I decided not to tell many because im quite private so i told my sister first who came with me to one consult, my mum only because i had to lol and two of my closest friends who were really supportive and happy for me Also were any of them negative about it?

I told: my boyfriend, my boss, three close friends and one of my sisters.

I didn't tell my mum because when I mentioned that I was thinking about it she told me I was stupid. However, two days after my BA was father's day, and I went to see my dad. I was pretty ill, and said that my back was bad and the painkillers were knocking me out. (I've had problems with my back in the past.) But my mum guessed. She said "I hope it's worth it" and then she was really lovely and supportive. Said that if the technology was around when she was younger then she would have considered having one.

One of my sisters, who lives in Cyprus came back for my another sister's wedding (big family!!). She was talking to me as said "Have you had your boobs done?" I lied, but she persisted and insisted on having a look. (All my sisters are similar to me - flat chested ... well, I'm not anymore!!)

I didn't tell my eldest daughter, cos when I mentioned that I was thinking about it, she said I should spend the money on something useful - like my funeral - because she wasn't going to pay for it. But I think she knows now ... she mentioned it at my sisters wedding (other sister has big mouth!!!) But I said no. I don't think she believed me.

Finally, I told my other sister the day after her wedding, cos I didn't want her to be the only sister who didn't know. My other sister had already told her - surprise surpise!!

Anyway, that's it.

Bit of a long post ... must be those two glasses of wine making me chatty. Hope there aren't too many grammatical errors and typos!!!!

When I mentioned it to my close friend she was quite negative about it and said I shouldn't waste my money and that my boobs were fine... I wonder how she can say that with a 34C chest!!??

No she was totally serious!!!

She's not got huge boobs, but she's got enough to make them look quite good. She's either a 32B or 34B, probably a 32, cos she's smaller than me.

And if your friend had 34C, how could she possibly know what it's like to have small or nothing? If you haven't been in that situation there's no way you would know the feelings of inferiority that you have.

I know! I personally think she's jealous that I'm not scared of what people think and made the decision to go ahead...she'd be too worried of what people thought of her. She's not a full C she lost lots of weight so they're a bit droopy... I think deep down she wished she had the courage to do the same.

I told my mum, dad & boyfriend. My boyfriends mum, mums boyfriend & dad knew about it aswell but they havent mentioned it since before my ba. My mum told my nan, grandad & aunty on the phone the night before my op lol.
No one has been negative about it at all. Friends dont know but might notice if i wore a bikini or low cut top lol x

i have told every one lol i cant help it im sooo excited, i promised myself i would only tell the people who needed to know but i have told everyone i know haha.
everyone has been great, my nan says i hope they dont look too big and fake but thats the worst thing that has been said about it really.

I've told more people than I wanted to originally, but they're all people I can trust and I wouldn't have felt right lying about it or not telling them.

*Ex-husband (ummed and ahhed about that but needed him to have the kids more so decided to tell him)
*My pilates instructor - also a good friend - as I'll be missing 4-6 weeks and won't be able to do lots of the exercises for ages
*My...dare I say it....boyfriend!!!!! Not sure if he is really, but things seem to be going well...and I kind of needed to explain why I couldn't take my bra off. He was great about it, really understanding. Takes the mick but in a funny way!!

Everyone was really, really supportive. My family questioned my sanity at first - they couldn't believe that it had affected me that much as I had covered up my feelings for so long. They were upset that I didn't talk to them sooner, but I'm a private person and it was too big to share with anyone until now.

Well I told all of my family except for my youngest son (22) he still lives at home and his pals still come around every now and again I didn't think he could take the ribbing. Saying that my pics are all over this laptop so I am sure he has an incling. I did tell his older brother but he lives away from home and is a totally different kettle of fish - so to speak. I didn't tell anyone at work, which was quite difficult as I went back on day 9 and I was still very aware of my new boobies. Managed to keep them covered up initially but getting braver now and gradually introducing them:ral:

As for negative comments...the only ones I got were from my mum who said...why are you doing this at your age!! your life is over...whoo hoo thanks mum. She has since come round and thinks they are ''OK" she was at the back of the boobie queue too! Dad thinks I'm having a mid-life crisis but if that what he wants to think then who cares. He does actually see why I did it and thinks they are great now that I have them and he sees how happy I am.

Its funny if you're a woman and you're not in your 20s people think you're mad to have a breast augmentation, i think thats sad! Glad she came around hun

I haven't done it yet and I cannot keep my mouth shut! I am telling my friends quite naturally because they will notice anyway an they know I have always been moaning about my boobs, so I have had some people say that it's great, some others being shocked at first but then being supportive, and generally speaking I don't believe in keeping it secret because that's bound to generate more rumours than if I am open about it.

I told my mum and she understood, she is only worried about my health and the fact that I have to go under the knife. I told her not to tell dad because it's the kind of thing my dad doesn't talk about. But she went and told him!! Apparently he threw a tantrum at first (maybe scared that I would turn up looking like a pornstar!) and went one one of his philosophical banters about how nature shouldn't be touched or altered and people should learn to be happy with what they have. My mumthen sat down and explained my reasons to him, he went to bed angry, the next morning he got up and told her "ok, I understand. Let's buy her one boob!!" I swear that's what he said!!!!! LOLLL. Bless. I said to them whatever you guys want as long as you let me keep both!! They are coming over to care for me when I have the operation.

There is ONE place where I am not comfortable telling though: WORK. How did you girls deal with work? MMHMH maybe this is material for a new thread.

I am totally lying to work. In fact I'm going to have to pull 2 sickies this week as I'm going to come down with a "sickness bug". I feel bad, but I haven't had a sick day yet, and it was either that or wait another 6 weeks until April and I didn't want that. So I'm hoping that when I go back after half term that I can keep them discrete as I would be mortified if they knew. I'm a teacher and I couldn't bear the kids whispering about me. I've been wearing my gel bras so hopefully they think I have a decent pair already and won't really notice!!

I feel so guilty, but I'm putting myself first on this one as it means so much.

I didnt plan on telling many people....but couldnt help myself! close family & friends & the girls at work. Not my children, they are far to young to understand & i feel they just dont need to know. Really i just wanted the people to know who i see regularly so i wouldnt have to explain why i couldnt lift things etc.

Unfortunately i went to a friends party a month after having my BA. She got really drunk & started grabbing everyones boobs, when she did it to me she said really loudly

"OH SORRY THEYRE NEW ARENT THEY?"

Needless to say i was horrified, noone knew where to look. A few more people know now, thanks to her indiscretion, but im not ashamed to say ive had it done so if people ask, i tell them.

I was tempted to, she was very apologetic the next day! It was a choice between create a big scene which i didnt want or just make like it wasnt a big deal.

I told my OH, my online diet buddy, and nobody else whatsoever!!
I mentioned it last year and got ranted to by everyone so didn't want the hassle of them interfering in my life or did i want to put worry on my Mum.
I was shopping for bra's the other day & picked up 34E's and my daughter (12) said to me.."hey Mum you don't even need a boob job, their huge anyway!"
Guess all those years of gel padded wonderbra's paid off!

She's been very interested in them and tries to get a look at every opportunity! She seemed to know straight away and trying to keep her big gob shut is a nightmare!!

She makes a point of asking my other daughter & my Mum if they've got "big boobies like mummy!" or "are your boobies hurting?" before she hugs them!!

There's a whole lot of people (on another non-boobie forum) who know that I'm thinking about it...I just kind of put it out there to see what the reaction would be. It was mainly, well, not wildly positive, but more 'gosh, well, um, have you really thought about this?' (doh!) And a couple of people saying 'if you have them done, can I feel them?' :lol:

One person was extremely negative, though - and that upset me at the time. But then I realised that this woman (who I've known online and a little bit offline for about 4 years) is actually judgemental and negative about sooo many things, if the only people I'm going to upset are judgemental people, then I don't care! So in a way, facing her negativity gave me the impetus I needed to go ahead and do this.

In real life, and since I decided, yes I'm definitely going to do them: only 4 people - 3 close friends, who have all been really positive, and my partner, who's all 'You don't need it, but you know I'll support you if that's what you want'.

My parents though? Brrr. I know it's not realistic, but I wish I could get away with never telling them! I mean, it'll be just one more thing in the long, long list of things they're disappointed in me for, but, oh gawd.

When I was researching, I only told my boyfriend. Then when I was actually getting quite serious about it, I tried to tell my Mum.. she freaked out, said my Dad would go nuts. So, not wanting my parents to disown me, I questioned myself a zillion times & tried not to think about it for a week or two.

Then, I decided I definitely wanted to do it, so I phoned my Mum & broached the subject again (& burst in to tears) & said that it was something I really wanted to do but I didn't want to fall out over it. Mum had obviously thought it over a bit since I first mentioned it & was quite calm & said she'd tell my Dad. She called back & said that he'd said I'm a grown up (yep, I'm 28!) & can do what I like, but to remember "any more than a handful is a waste"! Phew!

So then, I told a close friend who's also been considering it for as long as we've known each other (& has now booked after seeing mine..)

I told the three girls in my department at work as we all get on well & I just couldn't imagine spending so many hours a day with them harboring this huge secret!!

And finally I told my brother & his girlfriend... not really because I wanted to, I don't see them that often & I doubt they'd have noticed... but because they live literally 5 minutes from Highgate Hospital & it meant my boyfriend could stay there the night I was in hospital!!

That's so sweet! I think most people are shocked as they only really hear of the negative stories, that say we're bimbos, we're risking our lives, we're superficial, we want to be glamour models etc. When they actually know the reasons why we want boobs they'd undertsand.

Oh my word lovely, that's awful! I love your attitude though, and that's what I've had to learn to do. At first I'd deny it, but that just created more rumours. Saying that, my whole family knows (Not sure how that happened as I don't see the people that actually know) and at my grandma and grandads anniversary party where the WHOLE family was, one of my cousins who gave a speech welcomed some 'new additions' this year. Everyone knew what he mean, and turned and faced me and my OH and stared... so we just high fived and everyone laughed!

Honesty is the best policy with nosey people. They're gonna talk anyway so they might as well know the truth.

Mum, Dad, Sister & her boyfriend
Friend (who I suspect told everyone but I can't be sure )
And our close friend and her hubby. We literally live opposite them so it would have been hard to sneak in and out without the noticing!

All were really supportive and when people asked if I'd had them done they all played the innocent game 'no, I don't think she has, I don't think she'd pay that much for them!' etc etc

But I've since discovered everyone now knows, all friends and family. But I'm not bothered... I look much better, am much happier and so's my OH!
