Re: hunchback...
The upright position doesn't help of a night either xx you have just been pulled about a lot. I hated the arm ache and the back ache. It helped me to keep a good posture Hun when I walked x

Re: hunchback...
I had this really bad as my left incision was hurting me so bad everytime I tried to stand up straight as well. It also didn't help that sleeping upright hurt my back a lot too. It definitely feels a lot better once you can sleep on your back. I had to go to the chiropractor a few times to help ease the pain. He told me I was in the shape of a letter C when I came in I was so hunchback haha. I also used stick on heating pads as well as regular heating pads for my back which helped a lot. Hopefully you start feeling better soon hun xx

Re: hunchback...
No sleeping upright doesn't help, can't wait to get out of this hospital
Bed either, back home to my mountain of pillow and a tv remot that works..
It's good to know it reduces, so far i think it's the worst bit for me.

Re: hunchback...
I think it took about a week and a half before I started to feel a lot better. I switched to sleeping on my back at 8 days I think? And it got better and better from there. Seemed like it helped my incision pain too being able to get a good sleep on my back.

Re: hunchback...
Basically sleeping upright is most important for the swelling. Slipping down won't be a big problem, but prop a bunch of pillows around you and on your lower back with a heat pad there to help with the pain. My surgeon said around 5-7 days sleeping upright depending on how sore I was, but everyone's different. As you start feeling better you can slide down more and more after you give it some time.

Re: hunchback...
Aw ladies the backache, sore neck and lack of sleep were def the worst thing about a BA for me!! Have you got a v pillow? Get some deep heat for your back and neck, I used ice packs like they were going out of fashion but in site it was one of you ladies who was told to steer clear of them? I had one under my lower back most the time and found that really helped.x

Re: hunchback...
There's absolutely no need to be sleeping 'upright' girls. As long as your head and shoulders are raised higher than your chest, that's all that is needed to help with the swelling.
Backache is pretty rough... Try using a rolled towel in the small of your back when you go to bed as well as using a pillow under your knees. This helps to take the strain from your back. A hotter water bottle for your back also helps.
When standing, do try to straighten up. The more mobile you become, the better you're going to feel and the better your back will be. So think about your posture and start by having walks around the house/garden, building up till you're going for a nice long walk. It really is the best thing for you. Xx
