Going out out
Hi All,
I know everyone is different but am interested to know how long everyone waited until going for a night out.
My job is very physically active and so I have been told that i will need to be put in an office for 4 weeks after my op (I've taken the first two weeks annual).
To me a night out consists of large alcohol consumption and lots of silly dancing. This is also quite a physically active thing!
So how long did everyone wait? Will I be a hermit for six weeks? Obviously sitting down the pub with mates is very different to getting your glad rags on and cutting some shapes, but any advice would be lovely. I'm only telling my closest friends and family about my op and so I wouldn't want to do anything that I wouldn't normally do (sit down and drink lemonade all night haha!)
Also worried about people bumping into me etc.
Thanks in advance xxx

Re: Going out out
I don't know if you'd want to go out on a full on night out like you described until you get the all clear from your surgeon for fear of a fall or a whack in the boob that could put back your recovery or worst still result in a complication that resulted in further surgery and possibly more money for you.
Just use 'common sense' hun. When you feel able after about 2 weeks as long as you're still in your sports bra you can go out when you want.
There's absolutely no reason for you to be a hermit babe, but sensible... Yes

NikkiJane - How are you feeling 8 days after the big event? Are you mobile? What kind of things have you been able to do so far? Bet your desperate to show your bad boys off! lol
Cookie - Thanks, my main fear is someone bumping into me and making everything go wrong! I think I'll be taking it easy for the first couple of months at least. Its kind of why I chose this time of year to have my op, as no one really goes out much in january as everyone is poor from christmas. So hopefully by feb I should have the all clear and I can party the night away :0)
xx

Re: Going out out
First of all, loving the Mickey Flanagan reference, if that i indeed what you meant by out out!
I am 7 days post op and I had booked tickets to a Scroobius Pip gig tonight (it is a spoken word gig so no moshing) but my fiance went alone tonight as I just dont feel up to it. Plus I have not showered for 7 days so feeling pretty gross! I would probably have been ok as I would have been sitting down all night, but it just simply is not worth the risk in my book.
I intend to keep out of harms way until I have had the all clear and I feel up to it. You would hate yourself if you went for a cheeky night out and something happened that set your recovery back or worse, injured you.
Be patient. You are going to have your boobies for a long time and will have plenty of opportunities to show them off! Thats my advice anyway! xx

Re: Going out out
Haha yes Mickey Flanagan all the way! I'm seeing him in May... very excited!
I have basically side stepped the whole of xmas, and new year. Planning to just spend time with family sitting on the sofa and pigging out.
As you say, a cheeky night out harming recovery is just not worth it
Hope you're enjoying your new boobies!

He is brilliant. I have yet to see him live. I hope you enjoy it. Yeah I would hun. Its a small sacrifice to make to get a good result. I am happier sitting at hiome knowing that I am recovering that ou worrying that someone is going to bump into me or I am going to step funny and hurt myself.
I am not really enjoying them yet as they are all wrapped up. Going for my post op on Monday, so I wil get to see the bad boys in the flesh!! Cannot wait to get them out!!!

Re: Going out out
I really thought I would be back to normal by now, getting out, driving, lifting babies etc but I can't really do much. I'm actually in more pain than a few days ago. I really couldn't handle a night out xx

Hi Miss Feb!
Well i can tell you how im doing at 8 days but everyone is different and heals at different rates, feels different things at different stages!
I breezed through surgery, had make-up on and was discharged 3 hours after coming round (but i only had deep sedation, not GA) Haven't been too uncomfortable, sleeping well each night propped up in my pillow fort (which i love now and want to keep forever much to my OH's disgust lol). Iv never had morning boob either (yet) which a lot of BA girls suffer with. I walked the kids to school on day 3 after surgery, felt fine just more tiring.
Have felt more tired earlier in the evenings, chest feels heavy and tight but thats all normal.
A little warning though, im just a little bit delayed in my healing due to probably doing a little too much. Nothing dramatic but have now slowed myself right down and getting more help with things. Its harder as iv got 3 kids but if your child free will be easy for you to chill.
I stopped my pain medication 2 days ago (day 6) and didn't take it all the time anyway. Don't feel like i need it now! But like i say, everyone is different!!
Hope this helps Miss Feb, any other questions just ask sweet! Im no expert but can tell you my version of events!!

Re: Going out out
I went out 3/4 weeks post op, one house party (I just sat down) and to a pub (again I just sat down). I didn't go out on a proper dancing all night night out until 3 months post op.

I'm excited to go 'out' but to be honest don't think I'll be up to it for a few weeks yet xx

Re: Going out out
I haven't been out out : ( went shopping to Selfridges on Thursday, but was knackered, and paranoid I would get bumped on the tube! Supposed to be going out nxt weekend, I feel perfectly fine, but have hardly consumed any alcohol for about 3 months, one glass and I might be paralytic . Plus I am still inns sports bra until Tuesday week, so I won't feel all done up !! But I am
Going stir crazy!!!! Just wanna bung on some mega false lashes, fake tan & go for it!! Ask to ask at my nxt appointment about spray tan

Re: Going out out
I think you do need to leave it a good few weeks before the 'active' night out, you can always go out and have drinks but it is the dancing and moving around that could hurt.

Re: Going out out
I don't go out at all! I'm just not one for going out , much rather be at home with a cuppa tea in my pjs! But just listen to your bodybhun, it will be a good few weeks couple months before you may feel up for going out all night. Not only that depends on how long you're in your sports bra for also! I've only just gone back to the gym and finding that tiring ! X
