Has anyone ever had...
a vacuum dressing? Apparently its like a sponge they put in the wound, and its attached to a portable machine that I have to carry round for two weeks from tomorrow to quicken the healing?
Any advice / experience would be great.. I'm feeling so sad that this is all so complicated for me still. I'm 1 month post op today and I'm still going to the hosp every two days to have dressings and bandages changed etc. Please tell me it will be over soon and I can just enjoy my new boobs!
:(

Oh Elizabeth I've just popped on for a minute and had to reply to your post, i didnt like to read and run 'cos you seem so upset. I'm so sorry things are still taking their time to heal hunni
Some of us just don't take the easy road to healing hun and have to take the scenic view instead... Sometimes that's not very pleasant but you WILL come to the end of the road soon babe.
I've never had the vac dressing babe and its the first time I've heard of it used here.
Has your surgeon mentioned 'why' they're using this technique?
Is the infection all cleared? Has there been any suggestion of a seroma?
Sounds like they're draining something hun and if you don't know what then I'd personally call to find out why you have to use the vac dressings.
Really hope at the end of the 2weeks you can then enjoy your boobs. Stay positive and things will get better. Xx

aw cookie u have also had such a hard time! I hear u also had a re-op, Im so sorry that happened, how are u feeling now??
Apparently it wasnt an infection, it was the fatty tissue dying.. :(
My surgeon removed a lot of dead tissue, which went very deep, but it is very pus-sy and a lot of blood/oozing every time they dress it which is preventing the healing process. The vacuum dressing is apparently going to drain all the excess so that the skin can heal. I suppose he thinks in two weeks it will have started to heal enough that it can have a normal bandage again.
I think it all makes sense to me, and he is continuing to see me weekly, as well as seeing the nurse once or twice in between.
What is a seroma?
Thanks again for taking the time to reply cookie, now focus on your own healing!!

A sermoma is a pocket of fluid that can sometimes collect after surgery babe. Sometimes it can be naturally absorbed by the body, sometimes it can be drained and other times its dealt with by further surgery to remove all the fluid.
Sounds like your surgeon is really on top of your healing Elizabeth. I know it's hard watching others go smoothly through their healing but its honestly best to just take your own one day at a time. Staying positive and knowing you're being we'll looked after and that it IS going to get better hun
This is my second re-op babe. I'm a bit sore today and tired still and a lot fed up 'cos I can't move and I miss my husband lol. But I'll be ok. Back at clinic Monday so hoping all has gone ok. Righty is still very swollen and sore, so hoping that's ok - lol staying positive gorgeous!!!!! It's all you can do isn't it.
Enough of me anyway!!!! You just concentrate on you lovely. youve had a real rough ride through your healing but focus on the reward sweetness and see this dressing as just one more step to achieving it. Xx
Thanks Jakki xx
