what should I eat???
Hiya ladies,
Day 1 post op. As I said before, I have a lot of nausea and sickness from the GA slash pills.. but I have to eat something with my antibiotics and other drug cocktails! I tried plain toast, didnt stay down...
Any ideas for something that might not upset my stomach, or is it more a case of eating very small amounts or at certain times? I have anti-nausea drugs but if theyre working then theyre not very effective! I'm pretty hungry in between sickness! :( :(

Hi hunny, yes little and often, plain stuff like rich tea biscuits, dry toast, or if you can maybe a soup that's obviously a liquid but nutrious.
Make sure your drinking lots of water too it will hudreate hou and help flush out the ga also.
I personally would phone the clinic hunny and tell them you've been sick on the meds/anti bs as they can change them for ones that may not make you so sick, . If youre on codeine that can be quite strong, I can't take it, it makes me feel r.sick! Xx
The last thing they won't you to be is sick during recovery so give them a call and see what they say xxx

Re: what should I eat???
I agree a little and often is the best and sipping water all day is helpful with sickness and water will help flush out the GA. As for what you should eat, when I feel sick I find a little of whatever I fancy tends to stay down better than dry toast. I was given corned beef sandwiches when I was ill as a chid and ever since then it's always helped me to feel less quesy, I think it's a mental thing but it works? other times I've fancied the weirdest things like chips from the chip shop or a boiled egg and because I've fancied it my body tends to want to keep it down. If for some reasaon I haven't kept anything down I try to drink sports drinks like lucozade which helps hydrate and give you surgar and some other vitamins. Energy drinks may or may not stay down. The other thing is peppermint tea and ginger. Ginger is a good anti sickness thing, I've nibbled ginger biscuits or crystalised ginger and they help.

Ginger is very good hun...
If you're still like this tomorrow though babe, it really would be best to call your clinic. Some anti-sickness tablets could help you feel better. There's really no need to continue to suffer not being able to keep anything down sweetie.
In the meantime whilst you are unable to eat, just be sure you're keeping your fluids up. If you can at least keep a couple of ginger biscuits down before taking meds, it's better than nothing hun. Xx

Re: what should I eat???
I just nibbled on whatever I fancied. I had jam on toast the first night and couldn't swallow it for how dry my throat was. Then a savoury cheese sandwich with red onion, something I would never normally eat but was yummy! Ginger biscuits are what pregnant women are told to try usually in their first trimester if they are really sick, so they should prob help!xx
