Breastfeeding and BA Empty Breastfeeding and BA

Post by Becca85 3rd September 2012, 5:56 pm

Evening ladies,

I'm still breastfeeding my son and I'm wondering how long I need to wait after he's weaned before I can get my boobs done. Has anyone had any advice from a PS on how long they like you to wait?

A friend of mine had a BA just a couple of months after weaning her young baby and she's found that her breasts have grown in the years since because of the changes. She advised me to wait longer than she did. However once my son finishes he'll be 2yrs and my boobs and pretty settled and empty, so I don't think it'll take quite so long for them to dry up and for me to be left with the end product. Hubby wants me to wait two years but I don't think I want to do that! Breastfeeding and BA 869500

Anyone else been in a similar situation?

TIA xx

I don't have any solid advice but I had a baby in oct 2010 and breat feed him for 3 months, then I had another baby in nov 2011 and breast feed her for 3 months. So... I stopped breast feeding her in jan/feb this year and had my BA in July.
I mentioned the babies to both the nurses and the surgeon and no one asked about breast feeding or anything related to the babies except when my last stay in hospital was (but that was to see if I needed the MRSA test)

From what I've read lovely it's generally around a 3 to 6 month wait after stopping feeding.

There's no need to wait as long as 2 years sweetheart. xx

Yeah I was thinking about 6 months would be a time period I felt comfortable with.

hi hun, not sure of the breastfeeding thing as i didnt breastfeed any of my children but i had my baby girl 7 months ago (so 6 months) then had 2nd ba. I think just as long as your breasts have gone back to 'normal' so no milk coming through, all dried up etc! i think 6 months should be suffiecient once youve stopped breastfeeding. however, talk to the surgeons but as i say i had my 2nd ba 6 months after my baby and my breasts went back to normal. x

are yu planning on having anymore though as they say to wait approx 2yrs after a ba to have babies?! x

Some places I've read 6 month wait and others say once its dried up, think it depends on surgeon/company x

Nope, no more babies, we're done. Hence the new boobies. Breastfeeding and BA 899188

6 months sounds like the go. Now to wait and see how long the little one wants to keep it up for...

He's 18mths. Definitely doing heaps of research (this forum is GREAT!) and trying to learn the terminology and the do's and dont's. Will wait until he's weaned to start consultations because at the moment it isn't accurate.

Thanks for all the responses, you're all too lovely. Breastfeeding and BA 571992
