Sit ups??
Hey there ladies, i'm twelve days post op and getting very depressed by the amount of weight i'm piling on... 5 and 1/2 lbs already. My tummy is working again, so I don't think it's the GA bloat, but I am looking decidedly flabby around the middle. Would it be okay to do a few sit ups? I know you're not supposed to do anything weight bearing on your arms but figured sit ups might be okay. If not, can anyone give some tips on what kind of exercise is allowed?
I've walked home from work twice this week (about 5 miles flat), but hasn't made any difference to my expanding waistline

Re: Sit ups??
No sweetheart, it won't be OK to do sit-ups.
I'm sorry lovely, I know that's not what you wanted to hear but I'm sure you'd rather me be honest than to sugar coat an answer that could set back in your recovery
You just have to constantly keep reminding yourself that 6 weeks away from your exercise regime is a small price to pay, look back at your pre-op pics, remember how it felt to want the boobs you have now, remember the money it's taken and the major surgery you went through to get them…now think about setting your recovery back for a few sit-ups, or worse still risking a complication occurring because you're feeling a little flabby. Is it really worth it?
After your recovery, you can gradually build yourself and your fitness back up again sweetheart. Right now you need to put your health first! Then your new boobs so that you do the best for them to get the best result possible and then Hun, then your exercise. Xxx

That weight never stays on and just because you are going to the loo normally now doesn't mean your system isn't backed up. It's amazing just how much um stuff can be stored in our colon.

Thanks Cookie, thanks Misf1, you're totally right, its not worth it when you put it like that. Thanks for putting things into perspective. I shall put up with my flab (and avoid the ben and jerry's!) for five weeks!!! And Misf1 you've inspired me to get back on the prunes again xx

Re: Sit ups??
The information transform gave me said to keep active from day 1 but no strenuous exercise so I have been on the wii fit and done some step aerobics only and felt 100 % fine with that i did not use my top half at all and didn't do it for too long but as it said make sure you keep active and I can't really go anywhere because if I did I would have to push a pram I thought that would be the best way and my sports bra is extremely supportive my boobies don't move at all in them no matter what so I guess only you know your limits but sit ups wouldn't be good or anything using the top half of your body xx

Re: Sit ups??
Stick to walking for the mean time hun, there will be PLENTY of time to get your butt into gear and get those abs back to normal but now isn't the time. You really don't want to risk injuring yourself and ultimately putting back when you can start exercising again.
Just try and ensure you're eating plenty of fibre and drinking enough water.
You'll be better than ever soon enough, but now is a time for healing. x
