Going to Defer until a later date
Hi Ladies,
Well last night didn't go quite as expected!!
I've decided that I'm not going to go ahead with my BA, here is a copy of my letter to transform!
I was scheduled to have my BA on the 28th June with Mr Kirkpatrick at the Ross Hall hospital. I had my first consultation with Mr Kirkpatrick last night (25th June) at the Glasgow clinic. During that consultation Mr Kirkpatrick advised that due to the volume of breast tissue I currently have, to achieve the look I desired I would have to have either 410 or 480cc implants. This would result in having significantly larger breasts than I was looking for.
In Mr Kirkpatrick’s words I was not a “straight forward case” the alternative options of a breast uplift and implant was briefly discussed however Mr Kirkpatrick felt I was far too young to undergo such a procedure.
Mr Kirkpatrick also highlighted the risks involved in starting off with such a large implant as “stepping onto a conveyor belt” and the potential of having to have subsequent larger replacements. The potentially adverse affect of pregnancy was also discussed.
Mr Kirkpatrick felt that the time between my consultation and scheduled operation was not enough to allow for sufficient consideration of the options available. Mr Kirkpatrick advised he would not be comfortable going ahead on Thursday 28th June and suggested I have a think about whether the larger implants is something I would be comfortable with and if so to reschedule to come back to see him later in July to talk through further risks.
Having carefully considered Mr Kirkpatrick’s advice I would like to defer my BA until after I have had children allowing for the uplift and smaller implant option. Mr Kirkpatrick advised that should I decided not to proceed I would be entitled to a full refund given the decision to cancel the scheduled surgery date was his.
I would like to take this opportunity to express how much of a positive experience my dealings with Transform and especially Mr Kirkpatrick have been. Without a shadow of a doubt, when the time comes, he will be the man for the job!

Oh wow. I bet that was a big decision to come to but the points you raised are understandable. A lot of people wouldn't have the strength to back out at such a late stage and its brill you will receive your deposit back. Transform are great and its reassuring to know ur surgeon was more concerned with what's best for you rather than making money.xx

Wow that's a very last minute cancellation, sounds like you're doing the right thing though in waiting.
How do you feel about? Do you wish you'd seen him sooner?

Re: Going to Defer until a later date
You will get all your money back I was assured that until I had met my surgeon for the first time I could back out at any time and get a full refund so don't worry you definately will and you get a 7 days from after you meet your surgeon 2 back out as its a lot to take in and you need time to think so even if everything would have gone great you could still have backed out and got your money back its so good to hear that he has said that though he is a great surgeon definately a surgeon you can trust xx

Re: Going to Defer until a later date
From reading the advice given at your consultation, it does make sense to put the surgery off lovely.
I think you've made a VERY sensible decision hun and although you may feel sad about it at the moment, I think when the times comes for you to go ahead, you'll be thankful you did wait.
Always here for you sweetheart xx

oh wow thats a very brave, but wise decision you've made! Not many women would have the strength to go throu with cancelling so close to your surgery date like cazalion said, so well done hun!! You difo sound look you have made the right choice for you thou.
I hope your ok and not too disappointed by it all hun! If its something you really want done, then waiting for the right time is without a shadow of a doubt the best decision!

I didn't realise it was 2 days away that is a very late cancellation but still nothing is set in stone until u see your surgeon because like he has done he can say this isn't the right option and you are very brave for cancelling so close I would like to think I would have the guts to do that if I had doubts but I know I wouldn't I would just go ahead anyway which isn't the right thing to do you have done the best thing for you and I wish you lots of luck when you do go ahead nd you now know you will have a great surgeon that cares about his patients not just the money xx

Re: Going to Defer until a later date
Thanks Ladies, mixed emotions really. I was so lookign forward to my enhanced assets however relieved that I'm not going to end up with something I wouldn't be happy with.
Transform has been great and I defo will be booking back in with Mr K when the time comes.
Yes mrsm I defo wish I had seen him earlier however with both our commitments that just wasn't possible.
I know this isn't the end of my BA journey and I'm far more informed for round 2!!
You all have been fab - thanks for your support xx

It's really good that you did lots of research so knew you wouldn't be happy with the options you were given, instead of blindly going for it anyway.
And you'll already be an expert when your time finally comes so I'm sure you'll end up with a result worth waiting for. x

Re: Going to Defer until a later date
I'm really sorry to see that you had to make this decision and it couldn't just be straight forward for you hun, but you have without a shadow of a doubt made the best decision for you right now.
When it does come to your turn, you'll be 110% prepared and ready to kick some boobie-butt without such a huge risk of regret or complications.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, and well done to Mr K for putting the needs of his patient before his bank account.... not something all surgeons would do! x

Re: Going to Defer until a later date
Good for you for not going ahead with something if you're not sure. It's great to hear how responsible your surgeon has been on the matter. There's no point getting an op if it's not really what you want. I did not want big implants either, I opted for a lift with smaller implants instead, and I'm so glad I went this route. So when you do get around to getting your boobs done you won't regret it since it'll be what you want xxx
