Why do I feel so anxious??
Hiya!
I know this is so silly but I am so anxious tonite worrying about my first consultant appointment.
This will be the first time I have saw any consultant re my boobs & I am so worried that he will turn around & tell me there is nothing he can do to help me.
I am also worrying that I don't have any pictures of what I would like to end up with all I know is I would like to end up with a naturall looking DD.
My mum is comming with me (hubby staying at home) and even tho she is being supportive I'm worrying shes going to judge me on the size I want to go.
I'm just being silly & having a wobble about it all :(

Re: Why do I feel so anxious??
Gillian ,I did not take any pictures with me on both my b a 's but told the surgeon what I would like, the main one being I wanted to look as natural as poss. Thats exactly what I got. Its normal darling to have all these little worries but you know by all the happy post op girls on here it will be worth it. Sending you a big hug xxx

Re: Why do I feel so anxious??
Hi honey, I didn't take pics either, just write down what you want to achieve, what you don't want and any questions you may have and take it in with you.
You will have another consultation if you forget anything or you're unsure.
You will be fine I promise
Good luck xxxxx

Good luck lovely, you will be fine!
Also there's no need to feel anxious or pressure of any sort, just because you're having a consult doesn't mean you're going to sign the dotted line!
I'd get ur Ma to note take for you in case u feel a bit flappy when you're in there x

I can TOTALLY relate to everything you're feeling here Gillian, it isn't just you sweetie
Don't worry about not taking pictures, I had loads but was too embarrassed to show my surgeon. I've since looked back and actually have what I would have asked for. It does help your surgeon get an idea but it isn't essential.
At my first consultation I was incredibly nervous, I felt like I was wasting his time and as though I didn't deserve to be there. It's a very bizarre experience for a lot of us I think! I didn't think I was suitable for a BA until I woke up on an operating table.
My best advice regarding your Mum is just asking her to step out while you try on implants/ discuss sizes. My Mum was with me and she was great, if I asked her opinion she would say to go with whatever I thought and anything was fine - BUT - I think I held back a little because she was there and didn't truely think through my options. So maybe have some time just you and the surgeon, but do remember this is YOUR money and YOUR body, it's ultimately what YOU want that counts. Other people's opinions aren't as important as what you think during this and their perception of too big and too small may be totally different to yours. X

Re: Why do I feel so anxious??
You'll be fine hun. They're there to answer your questions and what you want to achieve doesn't sound unrealistic at all. This is the first step on the journey. Good luck tomorrow x

Re: Why do I feel so anxious??
Good luck tomorrow babe xx
I was exactly the same bt when you get in there all your nerves go as the PC's are realy professional and ask you what you want to achieve as well as giving you their opinion.
Good luck, let us know how it goes xxxxx

Re: Why do I feel so anxious??
Firstly sweetheart, don't let this be your one and only consultation, you're gonna be just fine, there's ALWAYS something the surgeon can do to help you. Remember, surgeons help women after having mastectomys everyday, helping them to build their life back through having a BA and nothing could be worse than that could there sweetie.
For your other consultations, maybe you could take pics in with you when you go on those and get an idea of the difference in consultations given and what you feel works the best for you? Never book on the day babe, no matter how well you 'think' your consultation went, you're new to this and have nothing yet to compare to, so please do wait and don't be swayed by any offers that might be thrown you way either lovely as a 'one off deal' The deal will ALWAYS be there
As for your mum Gillian, just keep in mind that this consultation is about YOU and what you want from this surgery. Although you may respect your mums opinion, she's not the one going to be living a life with a pair of boobs she chose hun, you are! and you're only going to get one shot at getting this right, so be strong and assertive, make yourself heard and express to your surgeon exactly what you're hoping for from your surgery. Don't be rushed, even if a surgeon signals that the consultation is over, explain that you haven't yet finished if you're not yet understanding of what is proposed for you sweetie and GOOD LUCK! Looking forward to reading how you get on. xx

Re: Why do I feel so anxious??
Well thats me just back ladies.
I have to say I wasn't wowed.
He seemed to know his stuff & told me about all the risks but he wasn't very keen to give me a size & really struggles to get him to decide overs or unders.
In the end he did say 330-420 HR unders but it was a struggle to get that much.
I want to be a DD cup when I finish & he seemed to be trying to put me off this. I'm not sure why I'm not small & petite. I'm 5ft6-5ft7 & over 9and a half stone so not tiny.
I guess it's bk to the drawing borard & see what other consultants I can find.
Thank you to all you lovley ladies for your advice & reasurance over the last few days, yous are all fantastic! xxx

Re: Why do I feel so anxious??
Thanks alice, I guess I will just need to keep looking. Just waiting on MyBreast phoning me to see if they have any other consultants I can see. Would prefer to go with them because of the after care, but if I have to look else where I will.
Haha, I didn't have this much hassle finding my wedding dress!
