Claiming SSP for a BA op Empty Claiming SSP for a BA op

Post by cazalino 21st June 2012, 9:56 am

Hi I have booked the week off work following my ba however it has left me with only a few days remaining for the rest of the year so I was thinking of either taking a few days unpaid or getting a sick note.
Has anyone used a sick note for time off work or did U use holiday?
If U used a sick note what was the reason on it as I dont want to hand it in if it says 'had a boob job!'

Hiya Hun I had to tell my boss but I had it as holiday and not absence. However I think your doctors note is confidential and would just specify when you would be returning to work. You're entitled to self certify for the first week and depending on your job you might only need a sick note for the next few days after your first week off (if that makes sense!)
So maybe take a week holiday and then have a few sick days?

As has been said already by our lovely Pussycat, for the first you can get a self certification, if you feel you require more time off then if you can get a sick note from either your GP or your surgeon, you'll be fine to claim sick pay hun. Just get them to write 'General Surgery' on the note so you can keep your BA confidential. xx
