The cost of a BA over time
Given the economy it seems reasonable to expect when we have a re-op in the future the price of a standard BA may have significantly increased.
I wonder though, how much has the price risen of far? It seems the cost of petrol goes up every week... Can we expect a huge price increase with our boobs too within the next few years or will the competition between clinics keep the prices fairly stable?
Of corse nobody can say for sure, unless one of you has a secret time machine X

Re: The cost of a BA over time
I'm thinking they will put loads of VAT on surgery, but should you be able to prove it was not purely for cosmetic reasons you may be able to claim it back. We shall see. The fear at the moment seems to be that the price of surgery could increase dramatically forceing people to travel abroad where it is cheaper. This could cause more problems for the NHS in the long run costing the government more money. I guess we'll just have to see if it's a steady rise with inflation or not. Seeing as my wages haven't increased for the past 2 years and wont for another year or so. I'd be furious if they started putting everything else up too. Fingers crossed the economy will improve and we'll earn enough to cover future costs.
Re: The cost of a BA over time
My Mum is good friends with a transsexual, and when I was researching into having a BA we did discuss it with her as she both looked into a BA for herself and knows many women who've gone through the change. She really encouraged me to go to Thailand... Yikes! I wanted the aftercare and safety of the UK but I guess that particular country is famous for their amazing work at giving people their breasts (and other bits). Worth considering if my wages won't eventually fund a re-op in the UK.
Has the price increased much over the last 5-10 years does anyone know?x

Re: The cost of a BA over time
I came onto this post with the intention of discussing the price of bio oil and new bras lol
But hell this is quite worrying! I didn't think that in ten years time a BA will probably be about 6k!!

Re: The cost of a BA over time
My friends that have had their ops well over then years ago, we're taking anywhere between 14 and 18 years here, paid less than half of what it costs today. None of them have had reops, they're all still happy with their boobs, and this is in Canada.
Another one had her first BA a couple of years ago in Thailand. She's very happy, but it was easier for her to do it this way, she was working in Asia, and has no children to worry about when travelling.
This is one of the main reasons why I was gonna have an uplift only, instead of uplift with implants. Took me ages to decide.

Re: The cost of a BA over time
Surgery is much cheaper abroad but like Alice I would worry about aftercare. My sister had her gastric band done in Belgium and she had problems so she had to go back 4 times!! All at her expense. Luckily its not that far away but it would have been impossible if it had been Thailand. If I ever had anything else done I would def stay in this country. I have already started saving for a re op but I had my post op with surgeon yesterday and he said because of my age I may not need them changing if I am lucky, but the only thing "lucky" about me is my forum name xx

Re: The cost of a BA over time
I think this has been a great topic ALTW, I think many girls getther boobs done without thinkin they will need a re-op (i was sort of included, i was aware of it but never thought about it,completely taken out of the equation) and i think it is a very wise idea to start saving for a boobie fund. the question is, how much?I'm hoping i can keep my implants in for a very long time as i am happy with the size and when my breast start to sag when im older i think ill be happy with that too so i hope not to get one any time soon, but you never know with CC or anything else for that matter GRRR I think if you knew when you'd change them you can make sure you have enough money... I think the bestthing to do is put £50 in your boobie fund every month and see where it takes you. and if there is more than needed... treat yourself to new bras hehe ;) but i reckin in 10 years itwill be about £6-8k :/ xx

Re: The cost of a BA over time
I guess I am a bit of a pessimistic and already considered this, I think this is why its taken me ages to decide, as i have really liked some of the surgeons I have been to see (4 so far in total, 5 next week) but wasnt keen on the aftercare, it almost put me off having a BA.
But I came to the conclusion that life is short and I have wanted bigger boobs since I can remember, so its now or never lol
£30 - 50 in the kitty a month, as long as I have some cleavage compared to flatties who cares...its worth it lol

Re: The cost of a BA over time
I think one thing a lot of women don't take into account is how much this will cost them in the long run and whether that is enough to justify the op. Based on one re-op every 10 years until I'm in my late 50's it will cost me approximately £16,000 providing the cost of a BA doesn't increase and I don't require any additional surgery. It's an absolutely huge (excuse the pun) life long investment that we take on... But there's no point fooling ourselves into ignoring the inevitable. For me it will always be worth every penny, there isn't a price I can put on feeling like a 'normal' woman.
As a few have said, adding cash into a boobie fund every month is the best way to be prepared. I think just keep saving and saving... Whether you have too much it doesn't matter, there will come a time your boobies will probably need it and you will always be great full for having it there.
This being said, if prices do increase to a disastrous amount I say all of BJSF's members go knocking on the door of number 10 Downing Street to give a piece of our minds! :heehee: X
