Keller funnel? Empty Keller funnel?

The plastic surgeon I choose to do my op uses the Keller funnel to place silicone implants. This is a wonderful advancement in BA and supposed keep it 100% sterile and prevent capsular contracture. Just wondering if anyone else has had this used for their surgery?

I've never heard of this and just googled it. It looks like a piping bag. Are you having smooth implants? They seem to be the norm in America, whereas (correct me if I'm wrong anyone), textured implants seem to be the norm here in Britain. How would it prevent CC though?

I think it would give you less % of having CC I don't think (correct me if I'm wrong) it wouldn't prevent, as CC is something that your body does in defence of the foreign object. It does certainly look interesting, it is quite new and more common in america.

They believe CC can be due to infection or from the talc on the surgical gloves that are used, I don't know if or how long this would take for surgeons here in the UK to start using. It is inventive and will probably interest for women to definitely go for surgery as I'm sure a lot of women get put off due to the complications such as CC and infection.

I think you are right Vicci. A lot of surgeons have a no touch policy here. The only one to touch them is the surgeon. I had c c and believe me its not nice nope Maybe that funnell thing means no one actually touches the implants at all.I know we mainly use textured implants here coz again they think the % of cc goes down using them .xx

I'm thinking more & more about CC since having my BA (just over a week ago). I have to stop reading about it as I'm convinced I'll make myself develop it just from thinking about it so much (a ridiculous notion I know, but my mind is always nasty to me). panic

I totally get where you are coming from Corrina. As I have already had cc my surgeon very honestly told me I have a high chance of getting it again sad smile if I do get it I hope its in the 1st year as I am covered by my aftercare and some peoples aftercare is a 3 yrs. I di a LOT of research on the net about c c and a few surgeons believe high dose oral vit e can help prevent it so since day 1 I have take 1000iu of vit e. Even if it does nt work for c c it cant do any harm so I have nothing to lose taking it. Its very good for skin so even if it does nt work for cc maybe I will look younger Hysterical Hysterical xx
