Bra sizes - Help!
Hi there, was just looking for some advice on bra sizes as now swelling gone down I am starting to think about what size I will be buying in a few weeks!!
I've read Misf1 thread which is v helpful but Im a tad confused?!
My rib cage measures 26" and fullest part of breast is 32.5". Im curious, do I take my ribcage measurement as 26 or 28 (the smallest bra size)? If its 26 then I calculate to be 28E/F or 28D/DD?
I can see from others experience there is a lot of variation in sizing and dependent on where you get measured and brand of bra etc, but was just hoping to get a baseline for myself and then I can try different sizes to see what fits best!
Thanks xx

Re: Bra sizes - Help!
To be honest Katy, I'd put resulting sizes right out of your mind until you're ready to get fitted. In jumping ahead of yourself, I've seen so many women feel disappointed in their guestimate and it's really got them down through their recovery and when they went for their actual fitting, all that upset and sadness was for nothing....
I'd just sit back, take the rest of your recovery a day at a time... Think of your resulting size like christmas lol. Wait for the big unveiling nd I asure you, it's a wonderful day and such a lovely surprise when you have proper fitting, rather than guestimating your resulting size from online sources and the like, which are mostly always wrong. xx

Hey hun as cookie said the brA info thing is just a guide for making sure you are wearing the right size band and or converting it to foreign sizes. Nothing beats a proper fitting at specialist stores like Bravissimo. And your boo s change so much in the first few weeks

Ok thanks girls, will wait and see what happens at my first fitting then!! xx

It's definately worth getting a proper fitting as there is quite a bit of variation between shops and how they cut their bras. Make a day of it. I think I went to every underwear shop in Chester when I was a few months in and in all the excitement didn't end up buying anything.

Re: Bra sizes - Help!
I worked as a bra fitter at Debenhams when I was pre BA (salt to wounds indeed). The general rule was to try on the bras to find a good fit - a lot of trial and error - there wasn't any accurate measurement method of finding a person's cup size. Women would find they fit differently in different style bras and even more so in shops - we were told La Senza always come smaller.
When you do get professionally fitted, get the lady to point out to you what to look for if she doesn't do so anyway! It's worth knowing what to look for and it's all simple once you get your head around it! x

Re: Bra sizes - Help!
Hi all!
I don't even really go by sizes, I just make sure it covers my nipple and they look good lol.
No shop is really the same I find. I've never been good with bra sizes and I only used to wear one pre BA to hold my chicken fillets in.
I'm addicted to buying them now though! X
