Scars - op over 2 years ago
Hi Girlies
Really need some help... Had my BA in April 2010. My scars are lumpy, raised and red still. They're very noticable and it's affecting me so much! I had my BA as my right breast just didn't develop at all. Now that's corrected I've got these scars.... I've met a guy and want to move the relationship on but he doesn't know and I'm mortified... just feel awful. Don't know whether to say or not...but you seriously can't miss the scars... Any advice????
xx

I notice you had your surgery done through the NHS Catherine, so I think you'd need to see your GP and get them to refer you back to see the surgeon.
I too have some scarring that I'm unhappy about babe and am hopefully going to have scar revision to make the scars neater.
The surgeon is going to cut away the old scarring and create new skin tissue to create a fresh new scar.
This can also be done for you too babe, but with going through the NHS you're really going to have to convince your GP and your surgeon lovely that the scarring you're left with is having such a big impact on your life in order to get to referral again chick.
Good luck Catherine and do let us know how you get on. xxx

I agree with the others about going back to see your GP.
If your scars are raised and thick possibly try Kelo-cote. I used it on one of mine on my arm and while the appearance still bothers me it isn't raised anymore and did help flatten it. It isn't an overnight thing though, but you do get results.
Although that was for my arm, so I'm not sure if it would be suitable for on your breasts maybe one of the girls on here could say whether it is/isn't. I dont see why not though!x

Thanks so much for all your replies :-)
I've waited so long - over 2 years - so to still have red raised scars I think I will go back to my GP... have to build up the courage though cos she laughed at me when I went about my boobs!!
Thanks again xx

aw hun, could you see a different GP at your practise? because someone laughing at you really isn't helpful. Or maybe if you still have your paperwork you could get back in touch with your surgeon?
Re: Scars - op over 2 years ago
If your GP makes so much as a smirk Catherine, tell her if she doesn't take your concerns seriously you're going to complain about your level of care through your local primary care trust hun. I doubt she'd be laughing then!
You can find details about how to use the complaints procedure HERE Catherine.
Don't ever feel afraid to stand up for yourself sweetheart, you DESERVE far better treatment than that and it saddens me so much to read you now have to 'build up the courage' to see here.
Your GP should be ashamed of herself treating you like that
