Getting used to them?
I had to pop out today to the dentist and couldn't find a single top that didn't make me feel like Katie Price walking around with these mahoooosive boobs on my chest! Which resulted in me going to Topshop and trying on a hundred tops to find something that didn't make me feel self concious... The end result - tired and grumpy!
Now don't get me wrong I obviously love them and think the size is just right, I'm not going to be knocking down Transform's door asking for my odd sized man boobs back any time soon! I'm wearing a yucky sports bra and I've only just started recovery so I know I wont feel wonderful all of the time and it's going to take some settling and adjustment.
But did anyone else feel abit like they're on show/out there/self concious/FAT/have nothing to wear?! (all things that went through my mind) And how long did it take you to start feeling more like yourself... Not like a walking boobie monster!

Re: Getting used to them?
What you have now Alice isn't the result you're going to end up with, your boobs will be really high and conspicuous at the moment which does make you feel very aware of them.
As they start to relax and take on a better shape you'll probably find your clothes fit you better, you may even find you might have to change a few things about your wardrobe to suit your new shape, but it's very different after your boobs have relaxed hun (around the 3 - 6 month mark) and you'll start to enjoy them then so much! xx

Re: Getting used to them?
Its all very common Alexis. Your boobs are going to feel quite alien for a while and will take some getting used to, as I said in my initial past sweetness as your breasts drop and settle you'll have a very different experience than what you do now whilst they're still new. swollen, high and shiny...
What you wear can often play a part in how good/bad your new boobs will look too which again was why I said in my initial post that you might need to change a few things in your wardrobe...
Just like having a small bust that you can be conscious of and amend that by wearing things to flatter your shape, it's no different with larger boobs, you'll still have to find what looks good on them to get the best from your new shape.
It all comes with time though, you'll soon get used to your new boobs and find what flatters your figure best too. xx

Re: Getting used to them?
Thanks Cookie! Very true about the high thing, they're very "in your face"! My wardrobe isn't designed for boobs, and it's a total different body shape, I've gone from skinny on top with big hips to being more in proportion.. But feeling big! I wouldn't want my old ones back, just need to get used to the change! Might have to take tips from Kim Kardashian, I've got the **naughty word** for it
Alexis I don't have swelling in the middle, they're just so stuck on looking! I have scratch marks/bruises/rash on my upper arms from the op which look like stretch marks but they're not... But I don't want people to think they're stretch marks so I'm paranoid about that too! I bought a hoody that I can actually zip up today I think I'll just go out in that until I feel more comfortable haha x

Re: Getting used to them?
Just to add for alexis, I had swelling in the cleavage area for a long time sweetness, I just kept my surgeon informed and updated about this each visit, it has eventually settled but it took about 6 months to return to normal. For most who get swelling between the breasts though it does settle in a few weeks. xx
Re: Getting used to them?
Oh I remember feeling like I had two elephants on my chest they felt so big and heavy, but this settles in the first month.
Alex is your sports bra to tight? I had a load of swelling in between my boobs and went back to see nurse on 3rd day, she advised I buy a bigger bra which seemed to ease my discomfort and the swelling did seem to go down after this.

Ice packs, won't fix the swelling babe, it'll go down when it's good and ready lol. It will however ease the discomfort of the stretched skin. . xx

Re: Getting used to them?
If you're feeling fine I'd just leave things be and let your body do all the work gorgeous... You're doing so great already so the swelling will probably go down soon enough anyway. xx
Re: Getting used to them?
Yep, I got the same reaction too post BA. Felt like Frankenbooby. I couldn't take a photo till 7th day or so. Hubby thought they looked fake, "nerf-like"... that was what made me stumble upon the term "fluffing" and researching this site further:) well, here we are 26th day post-op, and I don't even notice the "weight" anymore. Swelling much reduced. Doc said 2.5 weeks was when swelling would be down substantially and think he was spot on. Hang in there kiddo. Soon you will be going thru your lingerie drawer, trying everything on, giving stuff away to your less-fortunate top-skimpy friends..I did that Sunday. Fun!

Re: Getting used to them?
I still feel like that now at times, I have to hunt high & low to find just 1 top that fits my boobs well....it can really get you down so I totally get how your feeling hun!
I also have felt fat at times because of them which is very weird as Im not at all fat
But yes finding tops to fit is heart breaking & has had me in tears so many times........Im now to 1 vest top from river island a grey one that fits my boobs & goes back in under them and fits the rest of my top half that I brought last year.....Its a kind no win situation really as they make size 8 tops that are not big enough in the boob bit so it then rides up and shows ya belly & looks like it doesnt fit, or the boob bit is just to small and you cant get in it but go upto the next size say a 10 and its a sweeze in the boob bit but you could get away with it but then the rest of the top is baggy under the boobs!
I used to fit into lipsey dresses but have no boob, it looked ok but I didnt like not having any boobs at all but now I cant fit my boobs in the size 8 dresses, I got alod of size 10 ones yesterday & they were all baggy under my ribs & waste but fit well in the boob bit
Im at the point where once in a blue moon I get a top to fit, so really the only way to get tops or dresses to fit it to get them bigger had have them altered to fit me! cant afford to do that
I really do wish some one would make a clothes line for small framed girls with big boobs as the high street shops just dont make tops to fit size 6-8 girls with big boobs..........god Knows how katie price & celebs get tops to fit them, they must have them altered!
Sorry rant over! lol I love my boobs but not that much good if you cant fit them into anything & they are not even that big! lol I look a c-d in clothes........
xx

Re: Getting used to them?
I am having this issue too!
I had a clear out at the weekend of all my old D cup bras that now look like quarter cups on me lol!
I can still fit in some of my stuff from when I was fatter than I am now but am pretty limited. My standard look at the moment seems to be stretchy vest tops with a bigger top that layers well. But most of my old going out tops that were fitted on the boobs and then floaty to the waist (baby doll style?) just look like tents on me now.
Wouldn't change my boobs for the world but I second a river island for big boobs, or new look or similar.

Re: Getting used to them?
I think once I'm out of sports bra's I'll have more options, but right now I'm limited to things that cover the straps. I have a couple of vest tops that look good, but that's really it! None of my jackets look nice at all, so I'm wandering about in a hoody. I guess I can use having an op to dress like a slob... But not for much longer haha. I don't like things fitted around my waist, but I want things fitted on my boobs some don't look like a box!
My boobs are more in proportion now than anything, think I just need to get used to dressing for them x

Re: Getting used to them?
Haha glad it's not just me then! It's sooo much more comfortable... Plus I think trying to make an effort when you don't feel 100% is difficult, because no matter what you wear you don't feel nice!
Can't wait for strapless tops, cleavage and making the most of my new boobs :D x

Re: Getting used to them?
i cringed when I read that youd been on a trying on session at three days po - I did that - really paid for it the next day ... worried something was wrong but then realised it was all the arms over the head in and out of tops etc!
Im liking the look of vest tops more now. As for lipsy dresses, some Ive had taken in but as Crystal says its pricey - a couple I have taken in myself (im not bad at this but only if its not too complicated) but a couple I have left - they fit me well on the boob but are a bit big on the waist and hip ... its good tho cos I like to pretend to myself its cos that bit miraculously got thinner and joke to DH saying 'gawd this dress is too big now' hahaha

Re: Getting used to them?
It'll come really easily. Just after my op it was lovely and sunny but I couldn't wear any vest tops cos of the fat sports bra straps :( and things with high necks that cover the straps (fitted t-shirts) make boobs look big anyway (in my opinion) because there's no skin to break up the chest.
My sister noticed my boobs 'looked big' the other day (I had on a wireless bra and vest top) I was like - 'oh, it's just a padded bra' . May have to tell her sooner than I wanted to if she's going to have such a keen eye!!

Re: Getting used to them?
You'll get used to your new boobs in no time. I spent most of my first
week in pjs. I had my op on a Saturday, got dressed on Sunday to go
home, and didn't get dressed again until Thursday to go to my post op
check-up. Then it was back in pjs until Sunday to go to inlaws for Easter. I wouldn't worry about fitting into clothes so early on,
take the time to rest. You have plenty of time to buy new clothes in the near future, you'll be so happy and look fantastic.
My clothes still all fits, I haven't had to change a thing. I have an athletic shape, and my shoulders are broad, so bottom half and top half have always been pretty much in proportion. Plus in clothes I look no different than when I was wearing a very well padded bra (deliberate pre op so no one would notice). However, I am looking very forward to bra shopping, I have to wear a sports bra for three months, so two months to go, just have to be patient xxx
