Feeling a bit messed around? :/ Empty Feeling a bit messed around? :/

Post by mariaelaina 15th March 2012, 11:39 pm

So I've picked my surgeon, who I still have no problems with...the problem at the minute is the company he works for.

I was emailing a lady about booking me in for the op who said she was going to find out the next possible date for me.

I waited and waited but heard nothing for a week, so I emailed her back and asked if she had any new information, and she told me another lady who was in charge of booking surgery dates would be emailing me soon to let me know.

I then left it another week and I still hadn't heard anything so, at risk of being a pest, emailed the original lady back and have had no reply in the last 3 days. I tried ringing this morning and the lady took my name and number and I haven't had a call back either!

I just feel a bit down because this is a BIG thing for me that I'm really excited about - I've been waiting so long I just want to get the ball rolling, but that's a bit difficult when I can't book for surgery!

Just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation and what you did about it? I have no intention of going with a different surgeon, but if his "team" aren't replying at this stage, what happens when my care is in their hands? Or do you think I'm just being impatient? I know they are busy but still...

I had a similar situation with my company, I rerly wanted my surgeon so put up with the incompetence. Even on the day of the surgery I had bad service by the bloody nurses. My complaint is a full a4 side if paper. I tried ringing to confirm my date and got nothing, rang the head office to complain who said they would ring me back but never did. Finally my oh got through and gave it to em big time. I bet they dread us coming coz we complain every time. Glad I put up with it as my surgeon done a great job xxx

Ring up and ask to speak to the customer services manager. That's what I do when I can't get sense out of anyone.

Hehe yes, all the other places I had consultations with wouldn't stop ringing me!

The company is Aurora Clinics. I don't think they're a big company so maybe they don't have the staff to keep up?

Nat4Andy - That's what I'm worried about! I really think my surgeon will do a great job, but I don't want the whole experience to be a nightmare. But if you think it was worth it for the job the surgeon did that's a good sign!

As long as the surgeon is good and they use a good make implant and their aftercare is for 3 years or more then yes it will be worth it.

I think it was worth it even though at the time I was sooo mad. It's very frustrating and I would put a complaint in too. It's not acceptable. Xxx

It shouldn't take that long, they should have access to the surgeons diary all the time so that they can have a look and book you in over the phone.

I'd ring them and ask for dates and if they say they'll ring you back I'd say I'll be booking elsewhere if I dont hear from them by the end of the week/day (whichever!). Or say no, i want you to do it now!

Though if they don't get back to you its a bit embarrassing going back anyway!!

I contacted Aurora initially when i was looking for surgeons, and i had the same problem. They said they would get back to me to confirm prices and they didnt, tried to ring again and still no answer, so emailed them to say havent heard anything and never got an answer back to this day, which was a few months ago now. So i think they are a bit like that, maybe you could see if your surgeon works independently or elsewhere and contact him that way. good luck xx

Good to know it's not just me having problems!

I think Mr. Richards also works for MyBreast? Can anyone confirm this? A lot of people on this forum seem to have gone with them so looks like that might be a better way to go!

The company I'm with has been good on returning calls and emails, and booking consultations. On the other hand, they have messed up and changed my surgery date twice. I now have what I hope is my third and final date, so they promised. They have made up for it in regularly answering my many emails asap, and I will be ps's only patient on the day of my op, he doesn't usually do ops on Saturdays. Nevertheless, this has contributed to my stress in the past week, which I didn't need. But this was the only company I considered going to because of their aftercare, regular direct contact with surgeon and selection of surgeons I was interested in.

Adrian Richards does work for Mybreast so it might be worth giving them a ring. He has a very good reputation, I understand what it's like when you have your heart set on a certain ps. The consultation is £25, and you can see another ps without having to pay another consult fee. They won't be pushy either, I didn't get any pushy phonecalls from them at all, only a follow up from my pcc to see if I wanted to book a second one. xxx

I went with MyBreast and can't fault them as a company. I need a re-op and have just been given the ok for that to so would highly recomend them. They can be slow on admin but phone calls and booking you etc -great. Good luck hun xx
