Re: Suffering with pain
Oh thank goodness for you girls! I have the same thing on my right side, btween the incision and my lower right rib, feels a bit like a stitch at it's mildest pain level. I was telling myself maybe it is a trapped nerve or pulled muscle. I will try ibruprofen.
I was going to try arnica too - I don't have any bruising but does it help with swelling?

Re: Suffering with pain
Hi Aurora
I am taking arnica as well doc said it wouldn't,t hurt she did say to make sure your bra isn't too tight around the ribs as we are wearing them 24/7 as that can cause bruising if too tight especially in bed when you get hot .
Hope your pain eases soon xxx

Re: Suffering with pain
Towie, Glad to hear you got some help from the GP and hope you start to feel much better soon. My cough has gone and the rib pain is manageble now. X
Sorry Aurora you've got aches and pains too. Have you had a cough? Trapped wind can also happen after surgery which would cause a great deal of pain too. Hope it eases up soon. Ibuprofen and ice packing worked well for me. X

Re: Suffering with pain
Hi smallblue
I only just caught up with this thread - sorry you have been in pain chick - seems all the ladies have given you good advice so I shall just say YUP to that, its good advice. AND Im glad to see you are feeling better cough-wise so thats gotta help.
When I read that you work with children I sucked in my breath and thought ooooh well THATS what the problem is! My littlest is 5 and picking her up at the start was a no-no so you working with littlies must have been REALLY hard.
It was probably a combination of recovery, the cough and overdoing it a bit. I went a bit mad with the hoover TOOOO soon and suffered for it. I felt ok so I did it - silly me. Im more careful now.
Hate to be a gloomy bugger but dont overdo the ibuprofen sweet cos its not good for your tum. I have to take it on and off cos I have a long running sports injury and my consultant tells me that no more than two weeks at a time to bring down the inflamation then take a break is best.
xx

Re: Suffering with pain
Hope we are all feeling better today.
I tried Ibruprofen and arnica last night and it seems to be improving. I have had a bit of a cough. The bra strap is only too tight if I slouch which I am doing more at my desk cos of the extra weight so just need to remember to sit properly!
No trapped wind but then I take ginger every day for that and was really lucky with little bloating and no bunged up ness!

Ginger capsules: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It's supposed to be good for the digestive system and helps with gas/trapped wind. Don't know how but I have been taking it to help with the gas I get from suffering with IBS and have been to scared to stop taking it since I started as gas can be so painful

Re: Suffering with pain
Sorry again smallblue ....
Aurora, Did you take it on the lead up to your ba? and through it - you didnt have to stop I mean. Was it you that said about green tea too?
Ahm, you wouldnt consider giving me a list of the stuff you do take do you? Am guessing you know what you are doing cos Ive read stuff from you before about natural rememdies ... but the range of things baffle me so I wouldnt know where to start. No rush, just if you get a mo. Thanks xxx

Re: Suffering with pain
Sorry smallblue, hope you don't mind me carrying this on as it might be useful to other girlies?
Ginger - I didn't stop taking (other than the last 24hrs before surgery just in case) as you can eat ginger and they didn't specify no ginger when they said things like no garlic. I buy from Haolland & Barratt and take one in the morning and one in the evening. Can also apparently help with travel sickness but you should make sure there are two clear hours between taking and a long journey just in case nature calls.
Green tea - is supposed to be really good for clearing toxins and helps with muscle aches so I think it is anti inflammatory as well as antioxidant. Take one - three a day (whatever is suggested on the pot) after a gym session or when I am aching (from sleeping propped up on pillows for example).
I also take a multi-vitamin (stopped two weeks before surgery and changed to just vitamin C as advised) and cod liver oil which is good for the joints and memory.
Oh and fennel which is again good for digestion and IBS and also a diuretic so helps with water rentention - interestingly you need to drink plenty of water for a diuretic to work properly as it flushes the system.
Echinancea to ward off colds and bugs as it supports the immune system. I started taking this about a week after surgery as I was feeling cold-y.
Think that is it for supplements.
Thanks girlies for the ibruprofen and arnica advice - it seems to have worked

I also saw this on the Bodyrock facebook page:
"Green Tea contains a compound that helps block fat and enhances your body’s ability to burn it!
Want the benefits? Have at least 2 cups decaf ore regular on a daily basis.
(source: Fitness Magazine)"
So good stuff all round.
Hope you're feeling better girls x

Re: Suffering with pain
I don't particularly like green tea which is why I take tablets, think 3 a day is true equivalent of 8 cups.
