Hi Girls!
Its only just clicked with me that we are actually in July!! Got a nice letter from the consultant with details about the big day and requests for payment which has suddenly made it all seem more real...Cant wait. Good luck to everyone !

Re: July girls!!
Five days! eee....
I'm getting really nervous about the 'nil by mouth' thing. Six hours is a heck of a long time for me to go without sustenance and I'm really worried it's going to have a bad effect on me before I even get to the hospital.
My admission time is 12noon, do you think I could turn up earlier than that, just to be on the safe side? Then if I do get dizzy & faint, at least I'll be in the hospital...

Re: July girls!!
It may be more than 6 hours hun because they set out the schedule on the day who goes when. I got to the hospital at 11am (was meant to get there 11.30am) and hadnt eaten since 1am, i didnt go down to theatre until.......3pm!!! I thought i was going to faint, im so slim and eat so often so it was hard. But the anaesthetist will rehydrate you fully so you wake up feeling refreshed. Hopefully you'll be one of the first on the listorika wrote:Five days! eee....

Re: July girls!!
I am first on the list, thankgoodness! When I had my final consult with SW we agreed I could go in first!
I just know how I can get without food - and water too - so I'm already planning to get up at 5.30am for breakfast before going back to bed for a bit!

Re: July girls!!
My admission was 1pm, i could have a light breakfast before 7am and i could drink water untill 11am.
I had cereal and a cup of tea at 6.30 and a glass of water at 10am and i was fine. Your adrenaline kicks in and being hungry doesn't really register, just want to get on with the op.
I went down for my op at 2pm. Hope that helps x

Re: July girls!!
Congrats all July girlies.....just got back from hols and had my pre-op yesterday, along with paying my balance (ouch!) all went well but my blood pressure was through the roof!
trouble is i am now paniking that it wont drop prior to surgery and they wont do it! sure this is keeping it high! :pale:
Hoping it was just cause i hadnt slept in 28 hours prior to my appt and things will be ok!!!
Will be increasing fruit and veg, cutting out caffiene, salt and smoking to make sure!!!
Anyone else had probs with blood pressure?

Re: July girls!!
Hey shelley, my problem is the opposite, my blood pressure is always too low so I'm always lightheaded when I get up too quickly! I think doing what you're doing already will help a lot, also I know it's hard but try relaxing or meditating as this will help to bring it down - maybe do some gentle yoga or stretching? (I've heard it helps!?!)
Dani I'm not nervous yet either, just really excited as well! I'm sure that will all change when I have to start packing my overnight bag and making my arrangements! xx

Hiya girls,
I'm sure that your blood pressure will be fine, they check it quite a lot! I have terrible "white coat sydrome", as soon as that thing goes on my arm it shoots up!!! They take all that into account! So try not to worry about it!!!

Re: July girls!!
Frankly, I could have happily gone with AT or SH as well, but I felt like clicked the most with SW.
I think I'm the only one at St Johns & St Lizzies on Friday! Which is fine, as I'm sure the other ladies won't want to see me puking everywhere, which I am bound to do.
In fact, we should put a sweepstake on the exact time and how many times I puke...
