Dress sizing difficulties/and cat out of bag??
Well this morning I went with my friend to try bridesmaids dresses on (have decided again I didnt like the colour of the last ones we bought )
So just for the fun of it I tried some on too ... thinking that if were stood side by side we'd get a better idea how they'd look as a group cos there will be four adult bridesmaids but the other two were at work/school today.
Anyway ... I took my usual size dress in and it fit lovely until the zip comes to zip my boobies in .... and it wouldnt go ANYWHERE near - ooops.
Ive worn a couple of Lipsy dresses on nights out (that I had before the ba) and whilst they were a little full (actually a bit over-full when we were in Dublin but that was SUCH a blast!) BUT they have fastened up fine. Ive generally found Lipsy stuff to be a bit stingy on the sizes and they dont allow for a lot of boobie in many of the styles but I havent had to go up a size.
Have to say I was a little pi**ed off that I had to go up a dress size in the Occasionwear in Debenhams in order to fit at the bust but then they looked sh*te at the waist and hip.
Bloody manufacturers should make them ALL standard sizes . I would go mental (and I mean mental ) if I had to buy a bigger size - Id rather not have the dress at all - im such a baby about the size issue!
Anyone else finding this? I know I could get a bigger size in a dress to accomodate the boobies and have it altered in at the waist an hip but I would have to cut the size label out or it would haunt me
Also ..... there was a little moment in the changing room when my friend flapped open the curtain and I was stood there in my bra and keks and she looked at me ... really looked at me (I havent told any friends, long story but felt it best not to) ... she looked me right in the eye, for longer than I was comfortable with ... and I felt guilty - I still do but I cant tell them - some would definately NOT be kind about it. Ho hum.
Anyone told people AFTER - and I mean a while after they had it done and had a good reaction???
xx

Hi,
I'm not much use to you... however... this was one of my bigest fears with clothes- and one of te things I made clearest to my surgeon when ask what I wanted to achieve. I have always battled my weight, but although I still have yukky wobbly belly.. and bum I am actually quite happy as I am- size 12-14, although if I was just a 12 I'd be just need to put the extra effort in!!!! Although I know some things won't fit, and I will need to go up a size in some things... I would cry if all my tops and dresses needed to be a 16+ again!!!!
So I feel your pain and frustration...... Looking at he size of my knockers at the moment, they're only a bit bigger than my pre-op size with the padded bras and fillets in that I always wore!!!!!

I found anything that zips up won't fit over boobs. Especially the slimmer you are the less boobage manufacturers think you have. I would suggest finding a good tailor for alterations for going out dresses and of course cut out the label. But at least they will be a perfect fit. I told everyone that would listen to me about my ba so can't help with that question. I would think if they were a good friend they may be a little hurt you were worried they would react badly, however if they are a good friend a hug later they should be fine and asking you all about it.

Hey hun, I am finding the same issue! I have had a to throw out quite a few dresses to accommodate my new boobs!
I have always been a size 8, especially in dresses as otherwise I find they gape under the arms and around the waist. I too find the zip goes up so far and then thats it! I have started to change the type of dresses I wear now. Am really into the bodycon dresses at the mo as they are stretchy.(And the boobs look huge!) lol. But even then I had to buy a size up the other day otherwise I was squeezing the boobs in and they looked a little silly!
I am afraid I can't help with telling friends as I actually went the other way and told everyone. I have had some question why I had it done, others have reacted with jealousy but most have been really good about it. And when they see the before piccies they do understand why I did it. I honestly wouldn't worry sweet, explain why you felt you didn't want to tell anyone - I am sure they will totally understand xxx

Re: Dress sizing difficulties/and cat out of bag??
This friend that I mention is really lovely, I love her to bits but she is a self confessed blab.
If I thought she would/could keep it to herself I might do - but she'd say herself she couldnt keep a secret if her jaw was wired up!!!
I wondered if I would put her in a difficult position at the very start asking her to keep quiet - mainly because I had to tell quite a few lies (mainly white ones but I hated that bit) in order for friends not to find out.
I will just hope that she has the tact and grace I thought she showed in the fitting room and just not mention it. It must be killiing her if she has thought on tho we are both terribly nosey and if it was someone else we might (no, definatley) would have a good old debate over it - all 100% supportive from my side obviously and would also think the same view point from her.

misf1 - I agree with you on that with the dresses - makers seem to think the slimmer you are you have less boobage - well I did once - but not now
