Re: Absolutely gutted.....
Just wanted to let all you lovely ladies know that I'm OK - apparently I have some calcification in my right boob but it is completely benign, thank God! Had to have a core biopsy but it was well worth it to know all is OK, I have to say the staff at the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool are just fantastic!
So now I can think about getting back on track and sorting out a new date for my BA, I will probably wait till January now.
I'm just a little bit concerned about future mammograms, anyone on here ever had one after their BA?
Thank you to all of you for your good wishes, I'm made up to be back amonst you all again! xx

Re: Absolutely gutted.....
I'm so glad to here this!
I know it can be scary, I mentioned previouslyI've had a lump for over three years now, had the biopsy done shortly after I found it. Neither PS seemed concerned at consults, think it was same thing as you.
Now you can look forward to you BA, it won't be long! xxx

Re: Absolutely gutted.....
Thats fantastic news!!! And roll on the BA
Im not 100% but I think I read on here something about having an ultrasound type mamogram after a BA? But hopefully one of the girls who know more about it will pop on and let you know. If not you can always ask your Dr or Surgeon?
Congrats again hun

Re: Absolutely gutted.....
Great news, you must be so relieved! That is a good question re future mammograms! I had overs and have heard that overs can restrict the mammograms more so than unders which is a little worrying x

Re: Absolutely gutted.....
Fantastic news gillmoo!,thats what mine turned out to be!!my surgeon said because of this and having a marker in i would not be able to have overs,as a mammogram might not show it up right, but he was happy to do unders and said that i shouldnt have problems when i go for my next mammogram! So roll on january for you !!!So pleased for your good news!!!xxx

Re: Absolutely gutted.....
Brilliant news :-)
We will be January buddies (hopefully booking mine this week) :-)
Re Mammograms, I was told that overs don't affect mammograms but you do have to tell them so I think they have a different way of scanning. I was also told that it is a good idea to go and have a breast scan once a year post op just to check that the implant has not ruptured.

Hiya, I asked my PS about this because id seen a mammogram done - what he told me was that instead of the usual mammogram they would do an ultrasound because to squash unders into the mammogram machine* would be very difficult and not give them a usefull enough reading.
* ... if you've not seen one its like two flat plates above and below your breast and they basically squash it as flat as possible! I went with my mum and it looked like torture - I know its for safety but still! it made my eyes water and it wasnt even my t*t
Am assuming all surgeons would be the same with this? but then there does seem to be differing advice given to us all about things so would still check with yours. xxx

Re: Absolutely gutted.....
OOh beleive me its probably the most painful thing I've ever had done!!! But worth it of course. I was told that the smaller your boobs are the more painful it is...
I am just waiting now for a letter from them to give to my PS for a final decision.
Thanks everyone for your lovely comments xxx
