Post by Kat4 15th November 2011, 10:55 am

Sorry to be a moany this morning. Had been feeling so great after our weekend away too.

Its not a serious problem - just a grumble really but am feeling mardy and sad so I thought Id find a sympathetic ear on here.

Went to the gym this morning - not good, not good at all So it comes with highs and lows then .... 856466

Just to briefly explain (i dont really do brief anything so sorry for rambling an all!) - I love my running, before ba i ran every other day, sometimes every day. I also went the gym lots too. Its what helped me lose weight the best I ever have. I am desperately scared of putting the weight back on (Peggysue - I totally sympathise with what you said about the ED thing yesterday, sorry for mentioning but when I read it before it made me cry - not only in a sad way but also in a good way cos I know its not just me that feels sh*t like this too So it comes with highs and lows then .... 571992 ).

I had tried to run last week - on the advice of my PS - but it hurt like hell so I thought Id give myself a break and not be too hard on myself - just allow myself time to heal. So today I tried again (ive been doing the minimum in the meantime, sit-ups etc but nothing too strenuous) but I just cant take it - I ended up walking to the gym cos running was out of the question and even the less impact cross-trainer killed me.

My chest hurts so flicking much, not the actual breast but my chest - like the ribs and the muscle (I had unders so I knew it might be more uncomfy to start) with each foot fall.

Am fed up and want to have a strop - good job DF is at work So it comes with highs and lows then .... 375568 cos its usually him that would get ear-ache if Im on one Rolling Eyes

Any of you ladies that further on post op than me able to do impact exercise ok yet? Also wanted to ask what you think about pushing myself through it - sort of grit my teeth and bare it type thing? You think good/or bad idea? Wondering if to do that as a way of getting my bits back used to the running - wondering if the longer i leave it the harder it will be if you get me.

Im going to console myself in my sadness (tantruming my true-er emotion hereSo it comes with highs and lows then .... 199385 ) by doing something really bad .... Im goin to go on the sunbed and toast myself back to happy - terrible arnt iSo it comes with highs and lows then .... 375568

I ran at 4 weeks and I didn't feel any pain but if it's hurting you, your body's telling you to rest for longer. I personally think your better off taking it easy for another week or two rather than putting up with the pain and potentially making your recovery longer.

I'm sure you are but are you strapping them down? I wore a sports bra and a tight crop top so they didn't move.

Dont worry you'll be all healed up soon and able to get back to your normal training plan. I'm not even 8 weeks yet and I've been rock climbing already, it'll fly by. I know it's hard but just try to be patient!! Xxx

Aw hun Hug x I want to be able to do my yoga again but dont feel able right now. I would give urself a break for a bit. Although i was too skinny,(an i dont mean slim i mean ugly skinny ribs and hips sticking out skinny) I have put on over a stone and really feel the need to keep toned as its getting very wobbly so I know how u really wanna get back to ur fitness regime but i'm sure it wont be much longer now. I was told a month b4 getting back to light excercise and 6 weeks for high impact stuff. U look absolutely fabulous in ur avi. Sorry not much help but sending u big hugs anyway. By the way are u allowed to go on sunbed cos i'm feeling so white at the moment but didnt think i should! ? xxx

I love my gym too, but.... I think your body is telling you that its too early if you are in pain, and I would definitely not grin and bare it. You don't want to end up injuring yourself, or causing damage to your new boobies. If you are not going to the gym, your body doesn't need as many calories, so just keep your eye on that, and you should be fine. A couple more weeks and you should be back to normal, I was told 6 weeks before I should hit the gym again :)

Or... a quick/fast walk will not be so harsh on the body, plus that burns more fat than running/jogging anyway, as your heart rate is at a constant rate, and you can go further :) xx

Sorry you're feeling down hun, I think Holly19872 is right, it's your body telling you it's not ready yet. I think the walking is a good idea, get some fresh air and clear your head as well some exercise. Plug yourself into some good music as well, that always helps me! And you look stunning in your avi btw xxx

So far I haven't been able to find a bra that straps me down enough to be able to run comfortably. If I hold my boobs still on my chest, I can run comfortably, so I know it's really just a matter of restricting the movement effectively, rather than not being able to do it.... problem for me is if I find a FF bra, it seems to be about a 40! (I need 32 or 34) And going for a higher band and smaller cup size I still feel like I'm lacking support.

So at the moment I'm still cycling, walking and cross-trainering because I can't really run either. Maybe try and find a super supportive bra and see if makes a difference??

Hello ladies. Thanks for your comments - really helpful and made me feel better. Ive been walking, even a little light power walking and its not bothered me that much but proper running is a no-no. Ive really strapped up well, two sports bras (as recommended by someone on here couple of weeks ago) and also my running vest which has a built in support. Short of duct-taping myself up dont think I could be doing more in that way. Spose I have to give a couple of weeks more and try again.

Spose I should have known that if Im still strugglin to sleep on my side then Im still too sensitive for running ... bum.

Thanks for all your support - youre all darlins.

My DF had to come back off his job early so instead of not seeing him till Thursday night he was home this afternoon - always guaranteed to make me feel better - AND I didnt grumble at him either - had managed to get all that lot off my chest in my origional post So it comes with highs and lows then .... 375568

Dunno what Id do without this forum. xx

I didn't run until 6 weeks, but just got comfortable with it in the last 2 weeks.

I wear 2 sportsbras - otherwise I don't feel secure!!

Kiwi try a tight sports crop top over your sports bra, I have a Nike one and I'm very well supported.

Glad your feeling better Kat! Xxx

a small update ....

I went to the gym again today. I decided to try the SHOCK ABSORBER RUN bra that I bought before I had my ba but didnt use after cos its too small really. I managed to squidge it on over the top of my proper sized sports bra and also under my running vest. I couldnt breath much but I managed a good hour on the cross-trainer so feeling happier. Just gotta get that running comfort back sooon please god - im going gaga.

I've read that walking is a very effective way to lose weight - obviously not just ambling along but proper walking lol! Also it's not putting as much strain on your knees and joints as the impact of running will...

When I put my activities into my weight watchers, power walking gets as many extra activity points as jogging... Maybe try looking up calorie consumption of running and power walking online and compare them?

Words from my trainers mouth... fast paced walking - so your heart rate is high but not too high, burns more fat. I'll see if I can find a link :)

Charlored - you mean me? So it comes with highs and lows then .... 267328 ... if so - ahhh thanks, nice of you to say so. x

Funny thing is my appetite has been REALLY off since the ba - first few weeks i felt sickly a lot of the time and since then ive just not been as hungry as i usually am. I measured myself yesterday so I could update my notes for my PS on swelling etc and I now measure a 32 bad width (ribs) which I am so flickin thrilled about I cant tell you - so not panicking too much about not being able to run for the weight loss issue.

Really tho, its the mind thing - I also run because its the best BEST way to chill-out for me. I find if Im really stressed about anythign that a good long run is always a really good way to feel better. The walking just doesnt cut it - I need to push myself more - never mind, its getting better and more comfy everyday so will just have to be patient. xx
