How Do I Know What Size Sports Bra To Buy?
Hi Girls
I'm just over a week away from my op and think I really need to get my bum in gear and accept this is actually happening!!
Can anyone advise me on how to buy the right size sports bra? I'm currently wearing a 34 c bra however, it doesn't fit properly as I am an A in the left and a B/C in the right - I have told my surgeon I want to go to a full C/low D but as I am going through the NHS I won't actually know my implant size until after surgery. My surgeon has agreed to this but I have no idea what size bra to buy?
I'm looking at Macom as I have read a few of you on here recommend them but does anyone have any other recommendations and advice on what size to buy? I know I have to take into account for swelling etc too and everyone swells differently but any ideas would be muchly appreciated. :flowers:

Re: How Do I Know What Size Sports Bra To Buy?
Hiya, After the op I was so well taped up I didnt really need the sports bra on - I wore it for the journey home but my PS had said I didnt need to - it was just the t-shirt I had packed was a little more see-thru than I realised (especially as it was a lot fuller than before). PS had said as I would have to be taking it really easy at home I didnt need to wear one for the first couple of days.
As it turned out I had bought the wrong size anyway, and Ive had to buy a few more different sizes since - I bought a 34C and 36C (just in case my ribs swelled too) before the op, then a 34D after cos neither of them felt right - and in the last week ive been wearing 34DD because they are so much better fit.
What Im trying to say is maybe leave it till after your done too - as youre not sure what you'll end up with? - then afterwards measure yourself and buy a couple online (no need to go the shops then) ... think thats what I wished Id done.
Sports Direct on-line do a Lonsdale one thatI think is really really comfy [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
hope that helps xx

I also agree with Kat.. I wasnt sure what to buy and my surgeon suggested to buy a 34C or 34D - i randomly picked at the D size and could fit it for about 3 days and then it started to feel too tight around the cup area. I should have been wearing the 34DD. It is really hard to determine what size you will be so maybe just buy a couple cheaper bra's first OR wait to see what you will end up with.
But randomly guessing, maybe take a 34DD or 36D with you.

Thanks for the advice girls :) has helped alot!! I'm popping into town on Sunday so will see if I can find the lonsdale ones as they are much cheaper!!
Xx
TSmith - how's your healing going? I bet your so pleased with your results. I cant believe it's in 10 days - I shouldn't have watched the vids on here though I shiver everytime I think about my op :(
I asked a pharmacist today about arnica pills and he said they don't have a government license which means they are yet to be proved they work. So I'm going to be brave and go through with it without lol xx

I recommend the asda and tesco ones to (the lonsdale are great too) and they are only 4 quid!!!I took 3 different bras for the nurse to decide on the day and she picked the cheapest one which was from asda, I would get one or two in a larger band width too as i found i needed a 34" but could go back down to 32 now just havent got round to buying anymore in last couple of days xxx

Re: How Do I Know What Size Sports Bra To Buy?
HI Carole, I know these pre-op nerves are awful I came home from work yesterday in a fowl mood and I know it's because the day is fast approaching but I know if I told my BF his response would be "It's not too late to back out" (not because he doesn't want me to have it done, he understands my reasons) but I couldn't tell him what was wrong with me because I didn't want to hear the words. I'm finding it hard to sleep too, next week shouldn't be too bad for me as I am going to Switzerland for work overnight so that will give me something else to think about but I know when I break up next Friday I'll be a wreck lol. I dread to think what I'm going to be like on the day!!
Annaliese76 - my main problem is - I wear a 34 B bra - however, when I was measured I explained to the lady in the shop I wear this bra because it is the most comfortable - she measured me bearing that in mind (which confused the hell out of me) as a left boob A cup and right boob between a B/C cup. Honestly though, I don't think a 34 band is actually the size I should be wearing because I'm only a size 6 frame??
I think the best thing for me to do is just buy size D cups but probably get 3 sizes 32/34/36 - do you think this is the best thing to do given the above? Sorry to be such hard work girls xxx

If ur a size 6 i wouldnt think u will need a 36, I'm a size 8 and 34 was big enough for me even with the swelling xxx

Re: How Do I Know What Size Sports Bra To Buy?
Thanks for that - it helps when people are similar sizes so much more. My surgeon told me front fastening, they seem to be quite hard to find though - do you REALLY need front fastening? xx

Have a lovely time in switzerland Claire! you must have a great job!!!The sports bras ive got are back fastening but i always do my bra up at the front and then twiddle it round and shove my arms in !!if you know what i mean! The macom one does up at the front, and it has about 3 different lines of hooks so you can tighten or slacken it up ! Take care!xxx

Re: How Do I Know What Size Sports Bra To Buy?
Hiya Claire, to the milking it haha. Glad you liked the lonsdale bras, they really are comfy. And very reasonably priced too. Ive had to buy some more over the weekend (this is getting out of hand actually!) but I needed something comfier and so Im currently wearing a 34E omg - i hope this is temporary and i will settle down. I think maybe they not that generous in the cup cos they meant to be there to hold you when exercising a lot I know that but I was feeling very squeezed so I bought this one for now. Ive a drawer full of them now but I didnt know what size I was going to be. Someone mentioned eBay - think I will give it a couple of weeks and then sell on the ones that dont fit. I hope the E one is one I sell - its quite scary seeing that label - specially as I hoped to end up a C, even if I asked for a full C!
8 days to go for you .... whooopdie !

Haha kat glad you like my milking it idea ;) yeah I'm going to sell the ones that don't fit me on eBay. I was in sainsburys earlier looking at their d cups and got the strangest stare ever off this woman as if to say that will not fit you love lol!!
I was thinking the same about my NHS surgeon, I've told him a full c and to try fill the gape I have between them but most girls that ask for a c seem to be a d/e!! I'm only a size 6 and don't wanna look like Jordan!! I've already got the long blonde hair lol!! Xx

Re: How Do I Know What Size Sports Bra To Buy?
Carole it's not as great as everyone thinks it is though - it's impossible to get clothes to "hug" you, I just look like a stick in anything so to give me any sort of womanly curves I wear a belt everyday!! Lol. You'll all probably think I'm mad but been skinny really isn't easy, I would give anything to be a size 10!! Lol.
Not long now for either of us!!
Yeah I'm a bit excited lol. Then I go to bed and just dream crazy dreams, the other night I was been chased by a group of thugs on bicycles, they chased me up a ginnel to steal my boobies!! Which I was almost falling over by the way Crazzzy lol
How are you feeling about your op?xxx

Glad it went well Carole!! I told you it was nothing to worry about :)
Atleast one of us is relaxing about it, I'm making myself ill worrying :( and then I was panicking they couldn't do my op but said this should pass by the weekend coz I'm stressed out with work. If it doesn't though I don't know if they'll do it :( they never actually said anything else. I've been having really scary dreams as well I just can't believe how fast it's come round!! Xx
