going it alone?!
hiya girls.. well my day is very quickly creepin up on me and i dont know whether am being normal by going on my own for my ba?! am getting picked up by my company and the drive is a good two hours however i think this is somethin id rather do myself, dont really want anyone there, just wana get in and do it, afterall its my decision to do this. but am i bein a weirdo? haha, most ppl seem to take other half, but i think he would just do my head in lol!! as its gettin nearer tho its startin to sink in for him and hes like its an operation, i should be there, or at least someone but am not worried!

I think its personal preference, if you feel going on your own is the right thing to do then certainly, not everyone needs to have someone there, as some people do it better on their own, I would break down every second if hubby wasn't there, I know i definatley would be a wreck. I praise the girls that can go it alone.

Re: going it alone?!
Hi Hun,
Not weird at all! I was going to do it alone but my sister offered to come with me last minute. (My hubby is useless at this sort of thing and I'd prob have ended up looking after him! lol). TO be honest it was so straightforward I didn't really need anyone there with me at all. I was last in and my sister waited with me all day, just for me to go into surgery for an hour, come out and promptly fall back asleep again!!!! I wasn't very sociable!!! Lol
It depends on how you feel about it all I suppose, some people like to have someone there to support them, but if you are happy to go it alone, then go for it! They are all so lovely at Dolan Park, you will be very well taken care of. xxx

Re: going it alone?!
Hi hayleykim, I had my ba 1st nov and my oh drove me to the clinic as it was 2nours drive but left as Soon as the nurse was ready to get me from the waiting room. I was like you, happy to do it on my own and 'just get on with it' and I understand how you feel. Also i think the nerves were easier to deal with as i dint have to make small talk i just sat and read my magazines!
Also I told him I would ring him as soon as I had recovered from the ga.
So don't worry your not weird in any way x

I don't think it's crazy, I think it's a personal preference. I'm fine being on my own. The surgeon who might be doing my op usually does this on Fridays, and husband works Friday nights. I would much rather he be at work making the money, we'll need it with the cost of surgery

I did it on my own too hun, ur not weird, I think i prefer not to have my bf there but would probably have had my mum if i could (unfortunately she was having chemo treatment that week so unable to come). Don't worry tho the hospital staff will look after u and u can really enjoy some "me" time, I know i did!!hehe xxx

I went alont too, to be honest i was so nervous I was happier that way. My brother collected me and brought me home and my husband came in from work that that evening and was home with me and the kids for almost two weeks. All went well and I am glad I did it this way xx

Re: going it alone?!
I haven't been for my ba yet but I have discussed with my OH and he said he would come with me.
I said that I think I would rather (as we have to take days off work) that he just comes and visits me that evening after work (assuming it is a week day) and then takes a day off with me towards the end of my recovery week as I will be more sociable (hopefully) by day 7.

I did it on my own went up to the highgate and travel back on my own. I prefered it as I could just rest and be left on my own. Plus if my mum had come she would have got upset and fussed too much. x
