Small leakage
Hi
Thought I'd got off with it lightly !!
I've got a tiny hole in one of my scars and it's leaking fluid - got a yellowy/red tinge to it. Amount leaking is prob about quarter of a teaspoon a day, which is nothing like the horror stories I've read, but it's there.
Called Elyzea yesterday who says this is perfectly normal for up to 4 weeks after a BA as fluid can build up in the breast pocket & to make sure the dressings are changed regularly and the site kept clean and dry (luckily have the services of a wound nurse, yey). They've booked me in for a check-up in 2 weeks when it should be ok..
Anyway, as per human nature, during the day I'm ok with it, but in the wee hours of the morning I am a bit worried about it.
Any of you lovely ladies had anything similar?

Re: Small leakage
Thanks ladies. The scars are really perfect & have been admired far and wide for their size and neatness.. . The one on my right boob has healed completely.
Was really chuffed with my boobies as the swelling has gone down, they're softening up nicely, starting to slush around a bit, and dropping into their pockets. It's just this little flippin hole.
Ah well, suppose there always a cloud to a silver lining eh?

Re: Small leakage
Bad luck Miss Ellie, I wd think keep it clean, covered but with maybe a little space under for it to breathe and the air to get to it. I suppose it's your body's natural way of ridding itself of stuff it doesn't need - did u have any anti-biotics after your op? I wd think it will probably sort itself out but u might need some antibiotics if it's infected, but it sounds like you are taking care of it well so I wouldn't worry too much, especially if elyzea have said this is normal.
Good luck with it, hope it gets better soon

Re: Small leakage
Hope your ok miss ellie
It is so natural for you to worry about it. But if they said it is normal then you have to trust that. I think if it was abnormal they would have you in straight away to sort out any complications.
Like the others have said - keep your eye on it and just keep it clean. Oh and take it easy try not to pick anything up to heavy or do to much housework.
sending you hugs.

Re: Small leakage
Sorry to hear that Miss Ellie. Can't really help much as I haven't even had mine done yet! But like the others say, try not to worry - the wound nurse can help you look after it

Re: Small leakage
I know Angelpie had a similar thing Miss E so she should be along to offer some advice, glad you got help from your clinic about it x
Re: Small leakage
Hello hun, I had a real little tiny weepy hole at the end of one of my scars. I got some Savlon antiseptic wash spray and kept it clean with that and put clean dressings on everyday and it cleared up with time. If you've got a nurse to do your dressings she should be able to advise you. Just be on the look out that the area around the hole doesn't get red, hot and swollen, as that could be a sign of infection.
Take care. Angel x.

Re: Small leakage
Thanks Angelpie & the rest of you for your comments.
I'm just keeping the dressings clean & my fingers crossed (not at the same time of course). Suppose it's better out than in eh???
Elyzea were great, bet they have loads of people phoning panicing but they took loads of time to reassure me.
Anyway, another excuse to get my husband to cook for me.

Re: Small leakage
I had a teeny little hole at the end of my scar, it wasn't fully open, but it was still a hole! It closed up on its own after a few days, so give it a week and you should be fine

Re: Small leakage
Just thought I'd update you - it's stopped leaking, not even a spot on my dressings today....
Loving the again now. Have treated them to a new bra from Marksies today to celebrate (although it's a firm support one, not the nice little sexy number which I would have loved to buy)
Thanks for all your support ladies, you're ace !!

Re: Small leakage
Hi Miss Ellie,
Just though I would add that I had/still have a setoma which developed right after surgery anyway at my 6 wk check he asked if I had any fluid leaking which I hadn't he did say it was a shame as that would have been the setoma draining! so perhaps it's a good thing you had a leak better out than in! i kind of wish that had happened to me .
However I am really pleased that all is ok with you now :) :) :)
