need some support and any advice please.
ok ladies hear goes. sorry if its a bit long winded. im 43 have always been 36 small a cup i think, ive had 4 children and lost nearly 3 stone in under a year 2 years ago. i havent realy had a problem with the size of my boobs its always been part of who i am. but for 2 years now since the weight loss i have been sturgling to come to terms with wot i had has now gone, the muscle and tissue jus seem to have disapeared, so i have been saving and saving, doing my usual work and anything eles im able to turn my hand at to earn extra money, i do gardening, painting and dcorating, diy jobs, sewing, crochet, knitting, cleaning, and have a sataday job as well. ive saved enough to get my boobs done!!!!!!!!! but hears the dilemmer, i went to see my gp, as i was becoming mor and mor depreased about having no self esteam and no confedence it been efecting my life totaly, av been like this for 2 years, and its not getting any better, he suggested i go see a team of specilists and wrote of to them, he sed it would take about 3 months to hear back from them and theres a couple of weeks left to go before this time is up, he sed if i dont hear from them to let him know, it would be really gd to see a team of people about this as i have emotional issues attatched, eg. do i really need this done even if im paying for it etc, am i mad wanting to do this to myself, then on the other had im a wreak about whats happend to my boobs, he thinks i should be a very good candedate for n.h.s it seems, should i go down this path or find a surgeon im comfatable with and just go ahead and get it done? my gp says i shouldnt give up hope with going down the nhs path he is realy luvly and supportive and i feel comftable with him. but this can as ive heard take years and by then i dont think any surgery would help as im empty enough as it is. i gess i could just buy a lot of ice cream and cry into it. thanks for reading sorry its long. xxx

Re: need some support and any advice please.
if you have the money and you want it, i dont see the problem.... it seems most of your life you were fine with yourself, its not like you were never happy, so that says to me, your issues now are probably completely reasonable. /
you could try the nhs just to see if they will help you. but if you actually have the money i would probably go with someone private.. if you pay a private dr they will give you whatever you pay them for and whatever you ask for (within limits) what you get will be more your choice. i have heard on here in several places the nhs will kind of only do the minimum necessary to fix your issue and you dont always have as much choice about what they do. i bet lots of other people know a lot more about it from personal experience though than i do. but dont stres over your issues being valid, the fact you were ok with yourself before says to me that they probably are. i struggled with myself aobut wanting a lift when i was always ok with myself before and thought it was in my head and stuff but honestly just fixing it was the best thing i ever, ever did.

Re: need some support and any advice please.
hi hun
I went through a similar situation before having mine done i was kind of in the same situation i had 2 children and had also lost weight. and then it was like i suddenly realised that i didnt have any boobs! i never really had much to start with but then when i didnt have any it started to become a massive issue which got worse and worse. In my case i went to transform to a cnsultation and was planning to go ahead, but i have to say it was becoming a masssssiivve issue for me i went to speak to my doc who told me the same as you, i never really thought it could be a possibility getting it done on nhs i just wanted to talk to the doc about how i was feeling. Hereffered me on and i have to say the support and advice in my case was fantastic. I still at this point was going to go ahead with transform but the doc reffered me for a 3d body scan to see if i would be eligable for a ba on the nhs. To cut a long story short i had my ba on the nhs and got lots of support along the way.
I think that you should maybe wait untill you have your first appoint from the doctor and see how you feel, it might be that you still go ahead with your private BA and get some support from the docs along the way, or when you speak to them they may be able to help you to know what decision to make as every pct have different criteria.
Hope this helps abit hun, sorry for rambling! we are all here if you need us xx

Re: need some support and any advice please.
hi hun, i tried to get my boobs done on the NHS after breast feeding my 2 girls, i had been refered to psychologists for cognitive behavioural therapy as i was diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder, i was the same as you. It was wrecking my life, all my thoughts and how i felt about myself etc. I am also on 60mg of prozac a day..... but didn't qualify for a ba on the NHS. I have got a loan and had my boobs done 2 and half weeks ago, i am happier than i've ever been. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders.... crack on girl, life's too short Best of luck xxxxxxxxxxxx

hey it would be good to get a ba on the nhs but you will be waiting a long time to see people,so depends if you have the patience to wait for your boobs?
but i have heard that the NHS aren't as good as private care-they dont take into considerations what size would suit you or any of that liek private does,i'v read about a woman in a mag not long ago to have it done on the nhs and she had problems and they wouldnt sort it out for her and she could afford to go privated so she ended up going abroard having it re-done then it gone infeted !! xxxx

Re: need some support and any advice please.
charms thanks for advice, ive been struggling for 2 years now with the loss of my breast, it was so sudden to loose so much weight in such a short time for no reason, i was even tested for an over active thyroid wich was negative, so why i lost the weight and breast is still a mystery and thats wot bothers me, i wouldnt considder having a ba if my breast had just stayed small as they always had been, but having none now is devastating and is playing all sorts of havok with my mental well being. my gp says the team that ive been referd to work for the private sector as well and all have the nessasary crudentials. thanks again. x

rachemis. sounds like your gp and mine are on the same wave length. he was very suportive and it was his idear to refer me i was pretty gob smaked when he suggestid it. i told him i had already been to transform and talked to the clinik manager, to be honest my state of mind is not great at the moe and i was redy to jump in and get it done, but was uncomftable there, so i left it, i think if i at least see the people that my dr has refered me to i can get a lot of worries of my cheast and listen to what they have to say and at least they can point me in the right direction. thanks for advice. xxx congrats on your success with the n.h.s and the support you had. xx

Re: need some support and any advice please.
amy d. woud be great if all of us ladies culd get ba done on the nhs. i know theres a criteria you have to fall under and it all depends on the funds and the pct. i havent been diagnosed with body dysmorphic, my boobs were ok even though i had 4 children small yes but they were me, its the suden weight loss that has taken away wot ever was there. if it was just a case of puting the wight back on i would and i told my dr id be willing to that he sed i shouldnt as theres no garantee that any fat would go to my boobs, the weight loss ate my tissue and muscle in my bust, and ive worked hard at trying to get the rest of my body into shape with exersize and healthy eating. thanks for advice, and i luv your bra looking good with the puppies in it. xxxx

Re: need some support and any advice please.
hm well, honestly i would wonder what happened too..// it does seem strange to lose so much weight if you weren't really trying. // hope you can figure that out too so its not a mystery. that could be messing with your mood too honestly since it might be soem kind of hormonal thing even if its not thyroid.. //
about the drs: i know the nhs drs have good credentials... i -dont- think they will do anything wrong or that would hurt you. i think the issue is more that because they have to watch their funding, they sometimes just do the minimum basic job to keep cost low and you sometimes have less choices available. so guess it depends on what happens and what you want and what the drs say.
i have seen several people complain here though about stuff that happened that way with the nhs, and there was even a post about it from the moderators. // (not sure where it is) though some other people had great experiences with them. just thought id mention it since you siad you actually have the $ if you need it.

Re: need some support and any advice please.
roseygirl90. i think its a 2 way road with the nhs verses private, theres good and bad with both and some times i think its just the luk of the draw when it comes to things going not to well, unless surgery is done by someone who is totaly incompetent is preforming it. then that leads to a hole new ball game. im trying both roads im happy to go private but if my gp can put me in touch wit people who know the score on ba then im all ears to hear what they have to say, at least i will be armed with the best info when it comes to me having it done. thanks for your reply. xx

Re: need some support and any advice please.
charms. its still a mystry about the weight loss, i weigh the same now as i did then havent gained and thankfully havent lost anymore, id be out of my head if i was still loosing it. i know the nhs are limited to what they are aloud to do, but at least id be getting some good advice from surgeons and not just a hard selling clinik co ordenator. im happy to go get it privatly and have told my gp, he says to wait first and see what happens, than if all fails he has the responsabillity has a gp to help with where i should go. i do need some reasurance from who ever i see that having a b.a is becoz its needed even if im paying for it. thanks xxxx
