Time for proper bras, or not...
Hi lovelies, Im now 6 weeks whoop! and going shopping on Sat for some proper bras, gona get measured at Debenhams first. Well I ran out of my 7 sports bras today and after the gym had to put on a wired bra, well I felt so unconfortble I felt sick and queesy. Is there any advice on switching to normal bras, I think im addicted to these horrible things that are so confortable and every shop seems to only have wired bras.
Thanks sweeties for any advice xxx

Re: Time for proper bras, or not...
I was very uncomfortable for quite a while when I started wearing wired bras hun. I had to ease myself in gently just doing a few hours a day and building up. I found they made my boobs ache and I couldn't wait to get ack into my comfy sports bra.
Can I just ask has your surgeon given you the okay for wired bras hun?

Wow 6 weeks that's great! I have to wear sportsbras for 3 months
although maybe it's a good thing since wired bras don't seem to be comfortable for anyone?
good luck with getting measured and finding some comfy bras!

I did reply but it seems to have disappeared so may come up twice. Im not seeing him until 13th Oct but paperwork states I can after 6 weeks, ive had no problems to speak of and scars are tight but ok. think im addicted to these sprts bras and aldo my v pillow hehe xxx
Re: Time for proper bras, or not...
I would say keep wearing the sports bras until you see you PS on the 13th. I wasn't allowed to wear underwired bras until 8 weeks post, i did try a few underwire bras on after a month to see what they looked like but it was painful. If you wait for a while longer, your boobs will soften up and your scars will have settled more so its less likely the wire will aggravate them. If your PS does give you the go ahead to wear normal bras, i would do the same as 'alfie' and ease yourself in gently, start by just wearing bras when your out and about and then maybe switch back to sports bras when your in the house xxx

I have also got paperwork that says 6 weeks. I have bought 4 new bras and am going to make I little hole and take the wire out for a while then sew it back in at a later date!

Hey sweetcarol - do you know why they say to take out the wire? I guess what I mean is, what is the danger with underwire?

Re: Time for proper bras, or not...
Hi Alexandra33,
After breast augmentation, it is typically recommended to wear sports bras with no underwire for 6-8 weeks to be sure that the breast heals and the implant settles into place properly. After that time patients are able to go back to wearing bras with underwire.Just make sure your doctor has told you it's OK to wear one and make sure it's a proper fit so your new boobies get all the support they need.

Re: Time for proper bras, or not...
Thanks emme kate! Yea I'm going to wait to get the go-ahead from my PS - actually he recommends 3 months of sportsbras (ugh) or no-bra.
So I'm halfway there!
I do measure myself regularly though and I'm dropping and softening, but have maintained my 34F so far....fingers crossed!
How are you doing after your op???

Re: Time for proper bras, or not...
I'm doing really well!I haven't had any pain at all.And I don't have to wear a breast strap this time around which is good news to me.I had to wear that thing for weeks after my first surgery.
Your a good size already,I bet your so pleased!Your avatar shows an amazing result!I agree with you, sports bras are the worst...at least they are comfortable though. At my check-up today I was told I will have to go about 6 weeks before I can get a regular bra.
