Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
Hi grimesylass. I know at both consults I went to I was asked if I was planning to have any more children, and the general advice was that I would need to be aware that with implants you would still have the changes in your boobs that pregnancy brings and may be disatisfied after, so if you're planning another child anytime soon it may be best to wait. I asked about the possibility of breastfeeding in the future and was told that I should still be able to do this.
You will need some help with small children after your BA, as ideally you don't want to be lifting them and you should be resting. I would make sure there is someone close by for the first couple of weeks that can help out as needed xx

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
Hi, I have small kids and am just about to have my BA and as we aren't going to have any more I decided now would be a good time to do it. My surgeon did say I cd breastfeed no problem after, but ideally it is better to wait until you've finished having kids, as each pregnancy stretches and changes your breasts again. If you know you are going to have another child, personally I would wait and then do it after as it is a lot of money and stress if the end result is not the best it could be. (I think you are s'posed to wait 6 months after you've finished breastfeeding till you can have the op, if u decide to wait).
Definitely you will need help with kids if they are small, as you can't lift heavy things for up to a month - I've organised hubby and mum for the first 2...
Good luck!

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
I was wondering about this as well. Because I'm still quite young I don't see myself having kids for at least another 5/6years but ultimatley I probably will have at least 1. I decided it was too long to wait since its a long way off for me so I just went ahead and had my BA. My ps did say to me though that if in the future I do have kids my boobs will be affected and may end up needing an uplift afterwards if I breastfeed :-( not what I wanted to hear but its such a long way off for me I thought it would be stupid to wait that long to have them done afterwards....If your going to have another child soonish, like in the next year or two then maybe you should wait, best if you only have to go through 1 BA not 2 which I will probably have to do eventually xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
I was told the same (i had same ps as SMB), if i was planning on babies within a year or so it would change the shape and more surgery may be needed. Everyone reacts differently to pregnancy, some girls boobs dont grow much bigger but if your boobs grow really big and then go down you may have sagging around the implant so an uplift or bigger implant will be needed, since you have a child already and want another i would definately get that out of the way before surgery xshiningmoonbeam wrote:Hi grimesylass. Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
Hi hun ive got a 19 month old daughter and she was 7 months when i had my BA. I couldnt look after her properly or pick her up for a good 3/4 weeks so my mum/dad/bf did most of it for me. As for breastfeeding, i dont know, i dont think everyone can after having implants. I never did and dont want to anyway so fine for me. I dont know about having another child might do in the future but nothing planned so i wasnt going to wait for my BA. My tiny boobs (flat chest) barely grew when i was pregnant anyway x

Thats completely wrong, if you go through the crease (sometimes areola can cut the milk ducts, sometimes not) there is no reason why you cannot, a BA does not interfere with b/f as the implant is in its own shell.BlondeBarbie wrote:As for breastfeeding, i dont know, i dont think everyone can after having implants.

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
Women who dont breastfeed could still have to have more surgery, i know alot of women that didnt breastfeed but still got saggy deflated boobs, i think its the filling up of milk of the boobs that can do the damage.
Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
I suppose so, its usually breastfeeding that gives the sagging boobs tho, after all that money i wouldnt wanna take the chance.

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
I havent had children yet and definately plan on having lots! lol im sure i'll need a reop further down the line, most of us will at some stage. I couldnt wait until after as i couldnt be flat chested anymore so went for it knowing i will probably need more surgery in the future and i'm ok with that, hopefully they wont change too much, we dont really grow big boobs during pregnancy in my family so finger crossed
Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
im hoping the same nads but my mum was HUUUUGGGE with me, her boobs just ballooned! so guessing mine will eventually get ruined if I do have babies...how depressing, there not even 3 weeks old yet and heres me thinking about this!!! ...ages away hopefully xxxxxxxxx

Lol yeah no point worrying, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it hun, best enjoy our new boobs now
Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
My flat chest didnt grow when i was pregnant either so these boobies should be fine if i had another. I dont even think about things like reops etc x

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
Breastfeeding is fine, and if you have unders that also helps... and with any sagging that may occur. I would personally wait if I was Mel!! If as you say you are happy to wait a year or two to complete your family. xx
I did not have any indepth discussions with P.S. with regard to this, though it was discussed. Our discussions centred around 'mammogramms' ( here we go my age again) I am due to have one in July, told I just need to inform that I have implants and there is a different means of testing, also with unders it is simpler and easier than overs. I hope it is? as it is not a good experience to start with, especially, when you have little breast tissue to squash in the machine  ...perhaps it may actually be easier now.?
Might be useful future reference for most other ladies when you get to my stage of life

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
I had a baby in Feb and my PS told me to wait at least 6 months so my boobs could settle before my op so we would get the best results. I did breastfeed for a short time with both my boys, 7 weeks for the first and 2 weeks for the second, it is lovely and helped to create a bond, however it is hard work breastfeeding and not necessarily all its cracked up to be, for me at least. So I wouldn't worry about it too much as some people just can't do it as the baby wont latch on properly, or whatever. In my case I felt like both my boys weren't getting enough milk, as they would keep letting go and latching on, crying then trying again. Quite stressful really, so I moved over to the bottle, which was alot easier. Obviously I stuck at it longer with the first baby, but once I saw the same signs with the second, I gave up x

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
I just wanted to say some positive things about breastfeeding - I did breastfeed all my 3 kids for about a year each and have no regrets at all - it is actually a combination of pregnancy and feeding that creates the sagging as your boobs stretch a bit during pregnancy then shrink after (mine only went up about a size). But breastfeeding will undoubtedly stretch them more.
Think it would be a shame tho if girls get put off breastfeeding completely in case it affects their boobs, as it is not just breastfeeding that does the damage, and there are so many great health benefits for babies. Chances are after 3 pregnancies I'd probably have wanted to get my boobs done anyway lol.

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
I'm a big fan of breastfeeding and have gotten alot of my friends to do so for their children even when they were put off by the sore nips, i cant wait to breastfeed mine x
Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
I asked this at my last consultation. Although we're not planning on having any kids right now we definately want them.
My ps said that having a BA before having children won't directly affect the implant but it may affect the skin around which may sag. I could therefore need mastoplexy (sp?) to get rid of the skin to get rid of the sag.
I felt a lot more confident about the BA after finding this out as it was concerning me.

Re: BA , children & breastfeeding anyone?!?!?!?
My surgeon offered me nipple insicion but said that this would affect breastfeeding as it cuts through some milk ducts so i went for the crease and he said it wouldnt intefere at all, ive seen it on the news in the past though that they dont know if some silicone can leak into the milk although it isnt proven so is probably just a load of crap again from the media!..i always think about when i will be having children and what they will end up like but i know that at some stage i may choose to have a re op anyway as they will naturally sag children or no children.
Good Luck whatever you decide x x

Also, I was wondering is there a set time you should wait after you've had a BA before getting pregnant? I'm not thinking about babies yet really, just interested to know. xx
