Sizers... And V pillows
Sorry for the REALLY dumb question, but what are Sizers?
Also I have seen people mention V pillows on here. What is the purpose of them, and where can you buy them?
Thanks!!! x

Sizers are either sample implants, or silicone things which show you the size you'll be with implants, which you try on at consultations
V pillows offer support for helping you stay propped up when you sleep after surgery. You can get them in loads of places, Argos being a good one, and many linen shops etc do them too. xx

Thanks Rach :-) now you've explained sizers I realise that I knew that! I wasn't offered them at my surgeon consultation. I've done the rice bag test though!
I'll get myself a pillow then, great! Along with Arnica tablets

Re: Sizers... And V pillows
sizers can also be what surgeons take into theatre if you are undecided on a implant size.. All it is, is a silicon implant shell and they place them inside you and fill them up with saline solution. Once they have the right match and size, they get the real implant and replace the sizers.
This is what my surgeon is doing for me because im asymmetry so we cant rely on a guessing game for sizes to match.. Its a perfect way to get correct symmetry :)

Re: Sizers... And V pillows
Thank you for this thread, I just learned what sizers are. But I have another question please. Does this mean that the surgeon will put the sizers in, fill them with saline, then pull them out again FULL? I hope they are they emptied before being pulled out!

xaxa - nah I'm sure they fill them up and then empty them before pulloing them out - i had sizers and my scars are only 2 inches - so they must have been deflated!!

Hi alexandra, thank you for your input :o) I was looking for some example videos on youtube and one of the surgeons was using sizers which are descriped as 'sample saline-filled silicone shells' and he put them in filled and pulled them out again filled, ouch!!

Re: Sizers... And V pillows
Kept watching more videos and I confirm that yes, they do pull the sizers out filled
I like the idea of sizers because it gives accurate results... but I wonder if it causes additional damage, a wider incision or additional pain.
