How old were you?
Hey girls, was just wondering how old you were when you had your BA?
I'll either be 19 or 20 when i get mine done cause my birthday is in December but i was just wondering if i'm getting it done quite young?
the main reason is because i've got asymmetry (not drastic but its affected my confidence etc for years!) and i can't wait much longer cause it's really getting me down :(
but just wondered too if surgeons etc treat you any differently when you're younger?
oh and are overs or unders used more to sort out asymmetry or is it pretty close?
sorry for all the questions!
any feedback would be great :)
thanks! xx

Re: How old were you?
Hey hun, i got my BA at 24, although started consultations at 22. I wouldnt think surgeons will treat you differently due to your age. I think a few girls around your age have had BAs already and will surely post on this. xx

Im 25 having mine done in 5 weeks, but started researching when i was 23. If i had the chance to get it done at 19. I would have done it then. Had to save up for it and had a baby in between. xxx

Re: How old were you?
I am 29. Have wanted/needed a BA since puberty. And if it wasn't for my dad offering to pay, I still wouldn't have had one. If I could have afforded it at your age then I would have had it done then xx

Re: How old were you?
I had been looking into it since about 17. I wanted them done for my 18th birthday, but my parents wouldn't let me because they thought I was too young and I needed more time to think about it. They said if I still felt the same at 21 I could have them for my 21st. So I had them done at 21 :) Best thing I have ever done xxx

Re: How old were you?
I had mine for my 18th birthday. My parents were fine with it and it really has made me a different person. I wanted it before uni because then people wouldnt know me as the girl with fake boobs, I'd just be known for me. I was scared of going and feeling faulty or like a freak and I usually hate change. Im moving from Wales to Scotland and honestly can't wait now. It sounds stupid and trivial to people who havent had to suffer such an extreme lack of confidence but I know for a fact I wouldnt be taking it so well if I hadnt had my BA. It's made me so confident and willing to take on the world. It sounds so cheesy. Before all I wanted to do was shut myself away and stay in my little bubble as much as I could but now nothing phases me. Some people said I was too young but I trusted my surgeon and I stopped growing at about 12. I started my periods at 10 so he said the chances of me suddenly growing boobs 6 years later were pretty slim. I also got checked by a GP and 2 other surgeons who said the same thing so I wasnt hesistant. Also if you're younger I recommend keeping your mum involved if poss. Im not that close to my mum but it really brought us together and made her feel more involved in the process cos I imagine seeing your little girl go through something like this is pretty scary, especially if she doesnt fully understand your reasons for wanting it done. She also reassured my dad which resulted in a lot of support and help through the whole process. I know someone who had it done at 19 and before mine I was a bit like ohhh thats way too young, and yeah theres stigma and people say oh if youre doing it young its cos youre a slapper or wanna be a glamour model and its not. I had a lot of trouble in college saying that I wasnt gonna go to uni and i wanted to just be a stripper and I expected that. People dont understand and if theyre used to seeing you put a brave face on its a shock for them. Nobody expected the girl whos never had lower than an A to be the one getting a boob job so they were bound to have an opinion. I didnt see any point in hiding it, I'm not ashamed. I had a problem and I was fortunate enough to be able to fix it because my parents were able to help me out financially and emotionally I had lots of supportive friends and family. If anything, people were disappointed at how 'small' they were because as soon as you say boob job people thing Katie Price. I love my new boobs and im aware that people will always judge but the way i see it now, id rather be judged and love what people are judging, than be judged and hate my boobs so it just makes me feel even worse. I would say if youre able to do it and know what you want, go for it. As long as you get a few opinions from different medical professionals to make sure theyre not just after your money, go for it. You wont regret it!

I was 29, although I would have done it at 18 if I'd had the money. It took me a long long time to get them.

i was 34. I wanted to be finished having children, because it was never about the size, but about correcting what pregnancy and weight fluctuation had done

Re: How old were you?
ah great, thanks for all your answers, good to know other girls my age or of similar age have had it done!
and blondeandblue - its good to know someone of a similar age got it done for the same reasons, and i know what you mean about putting on a brave face because i do it every day! My mum is really supportive too though which has been really helpful, and shes going to help me talk to my dad..which might be awkward but im sure he'll be supportive too :)
