Here is some info on seeing pics [Only admins are allowed to see this link]

After posting for a while and joining in the forum you should be able to pm people. As for becoming active, this will happen when the admin feel that you are a genuine member as you can never be too careful and we like to keep our members safe on the forum and ensure they feel safe sharing pictures.

Like misf1 said, there are a number of things that qualify someone to be an active member. Taking part in discussions in the forum on all the boards will definitely help you settle in quicker.
