Numb nipples? Empty Numb nipples?

Post by EJM 9th April 2011, 11:57 pm

I had surgery about a month ago and everything went well and they look great. But... the sensation has returned to my right nipple but not my left. I saw the surgeon and he basically said take vit b, massage them and keep your fingers crossed.

Has anyone had numb nipples for longer than a month and then had the sensation return afterwards at any time?

Hey love,

I am going on everything I have read, and I have read a lot.... And that is that nerves take time to heal and reconnect, and everyone is different. It could take a long time for sensation to return. It is possible that sensation doesn't return at all in some cases, but from what I have read that is not the norm. Don't worry and above all listen to your surgeon and trust his advice.

We're both still very early on at one month. I went the other way and am supersensitive. That is not fun either. My PS tells me it will settle down and normal out. So we are all in our own little waiting game. It makes sense; so much got changed in our breasts, and our nerves are a delicate network. I think you'll be fine sweetie.

It can take anything up to one year for all sensation to return to your breasts, so don't worry hun, you're still very early days yet.

I had one numb nipple till almost bang on 12 months post-op when sensation finally started to return but it didn't gain full normal reaction till I was 14 months post-op. xx

Thanks guys, thats really reassuring.
Smalls - Vit B (particularly 12) promotes healthy skin muslces and nerves. Nothing concrete has been decided but tests have show that improvement in nerve regeneration has been more successful whilst taking it.

I didn't take anything and due to nerve damage during a BA it can take quite a while for sensation to return, mine took about a year to fully come back. I only had one fully sensitive nip for ages, it did my head in. But they are all back to normal now. Just takes a bit of time.
