Hi, had my BA on Sunday and obviously my boobs are still hard and alien ish, I thought massaging them might help but my PC says not for at least two weeks!! That seems really late to me what has everyone else done/been told?? Thanks. Xx

Re: Massage???
I was told no massaging boobs, just scars. Get advice from your PS as they are all different

Re: Massage???
I was told I didn't need to massage at all, some people are told they should massage straight away, others only for a few days and some after 6 weeks. The purpose of massage is because it has been shown to halt certain symptoms. Mostly the formation of scar tissue that can squeeze the breast implant, push it out of its intended position and create extreme discomfort (CC). The formation of scar tissue is the body's natural reaction to any object being placed in the breast cavity, but the scar tissue can be minimized through the use of breast augmentation massage. It wont make them any softer at the moment as a lot of the hardness will be swelling. After the swelling goes down after two weeks or so it sounds like they will give you the go ahead to massage. To be honest I'm glad I didn't have to massage as it's quite firm and looks quite painful the way the surgeons do it. They really grab and squeeze

Re: Massage???
I was told that I couldn't massage until 3 weeks after my BA. To be honest they were so tender I don't know if I would have wanted to even if I could.

Re: Massage???
At my 10 day post op check my nurse told me to start massaging, it wasn't the most comfortable thing to have to do but it got easier every day, infact eventually it became quite soothing. One advantage was that as I had to massage every day, I used Palmers cocoa butter (not touching the scars though) which 'killed 2 birds with one stone' - my skin was lovely and I didn't have any stretchmarks!!

Re: Massage???
I was told massage wasn't needed in my case. Best to do what your surgeon suggests as doing anything other than that can void your aftercare.
