Re: FAO: Soutty123
Thank you everyone for thinking of me x
Well it's not great news but not as bad as I feared. The implant has migrated. I've been told to massage it firmly and try to push it to the left as much as possible but that I will probably need revision surgery in the future. Apparently this is a 20 minute job (albeit requiring a GA) that is simple and would not require an overnight stay in hospital. I guess this means I wouldn't need much time off work etc.
I didn't actually see my own ps as he wasn't available at short notice but I am seeing him next Saturday and will ask him about how long I have to wait to have it done etc then. I don't even know whether my implants are under or over - the ps I saw today thought they must have been unders because my chest muscle appears to have pushed the implant to the right but my feeling is that it wasn't placed properly in the first place as it was in this position from day 1.
One thing I have noticed is that a non malignant lump which I had biopsied 13 years ago close to my nipple on that breast appears to be no longer there but there is a big bruise where it was. I wonder if my ps removed it or if the implant has moved it (it was hardened fatty tissue, colloquially referred to as a breast mouse because the lump moves around the breast rather than being solid) and this has some bearing on why the implant has moved. The ps I saw today didn't really comment on that but seemed to be of the view that all that needs to happen is to make an incision, put the implant in the right place and sew me back up again. Apart from this I am healing well and my left boob has settled and softened already. I will be super happy if my right boob ends up looking and feeling as good as that one.
Sorry for the lengthy post! If anyone has been through this kind of revision surgery and can let me know how successful it was and what the recover was like I'd be really grateful.
Thanks for the support xx
