how long must you sleep upright and is this to avoid clotting?

I slept upright for about two weeks, all surgeons have different opinions though, might be worth asking your surgeon. Also you only need to sleep propped up, not upright, I had four pillows and then my v-pillow and was really comfy, and at that angle my bum didn't go numb or slip down the bed too much!
The reason for sleeping upright is drainage - the swelling will stay in your op area if you lay down but drain away if you sleep propped up - the body still takes time to get rid of this fluid but it means you are not really swollen and uncomfortable around the op area.

Hi hunnie, my surgeon said a couple of days minimum but if I could manage a couple more after that he would recommended that I try to do it.

What is a v pillow? I am mostly a stomach sleeper but do like to sleep on my sides some. I hope that I can sleep at all after the surgery. I think this is the most thing that I dread now. 👋
