Devasted
It's only now that I am able to write this, I have been quiet on the forum for years and years I have wanted a BA but thought I would wait for my two children to grow up. My BA was due 5th Feb 2011 which is today and I was told just under 4 weeks ago that they could not go ahead, (due to a blood disorder I have which they knew and I had already consulted my GP he said it was still ok to go ahead) so now I am waiting to receive my deposit back from them, they said I had to wait 2 weeks before receiving it which would make it this monday 7th Feb so I will be calling them anyway like kimmy one of the ladies here, I went to asda and bought my bra and also bought my V shaped pillow beeing so excited over the weekend, going to the gym thinking to myself come summer I would be feeling good.then on the monday I received my call, I couldn't stop crying I couldn't even go to work the next day

Re: Devasted
Awww hunni, no wonder you are devestated, to be let down so last minute is awful.
It seems odd that your GP said it was okay to have surgery and your ps obviously did untill 2 weeks ago. I'd want to know why they have suddenly changed their minds.
I'm sure there was a girl on here with a blood disorder that had her ba, but only certain clinics would go ahead.
Sending big hugs hunni.

Re: Devasted
Hi hun - it's worth knowing that not all hospitals & plastic surgeons are the same? If you paid a deposit it sounds like you went to transform or one of these type clinics? How about trying a hospital where the consultant works on the NHS too (& work in the private hospital in their free time)- they would have MUCH more experience in dealing with things out of the ordinary.
I had my op at Spire Bushey (North London/Herts border) & the consultant works (in the NHS) at the Royal Free Hospital in London (one of biggest plastic surgery centres in UK). I had had prevoius problems with haemhorriage (cant spell it) where my blood doesn't clot as quickly as most people (I haemhorriaged twice after ectopic & miscarriage surgery & needed 2 blood transfusions). When I told him this he did extra blood clotting tests, saw that the results were slightly outside the "normal" range, but that this wasn't a problemn for this surgery & I sailed through with hardly any bruising.
I don't think you should necessaruly give up but I believe that consultants that work at transform aren't generally NHS surgeons so although they are good at BAs they only do that, they don't deal with anything else, so probably wouldn't be able to manage your case.
Dont know where you are situated but look on the Spire Healthcare website, email the customer service person & ask the question. If you give them the details of the blood disorder you have they will be able to ask their lead consultants they work with if this is an issue in general (this is what I did) - especailly as your GP has siad it isn't an issue - I really think you need to find an NHS based consultant who as I said will have MUCH more experience in this kind of thing - where are you based? xxx

Re: Devasted
I remember someone on here had it done and they had a blood disorder. I would try somewhere that doesn't do their ops in a private clinic and find somewhere that does it in a hospital, sorry you have been let down last minute.
Re: Devasted
Aww jenbabes come here hun
You must be absolutely devastated, and I know exactly how you must be feeling as something similar happened to me a long time ago and I cried for a whole week and felt completely empty and numb inside.
But don't give up hun, there will be a surgeon out there who will be able to do the procedure for you
xx

Re: Devasted
So sorry to hear you have had to postpone your BA - did you find out from the clinic who it was who pulled the plug on your surgery? - was it the surgeon or the anaethistist, if you know what issues they had with your circumstances you will be better informed to chose the right hospital/clinic and surgeon next time. Your time will come, don't worry as Good things come to those who wait! xx

Ahhh how sad for you, I bet you feel uttery deflated.
The advice given by Lilibet was excellent. I would definately do that.
Or Mybreast use NHS reconstructive plastic surgeons, you could give them a call - I bet they can help you
Good luck xxx
