1st Bra fitting after B/A & ever!!!
Hi Guys,
i just thought i'd drop a quick line on how excited i was at the weekend. i went for my 1st bra fitting . . . . ever!
i have always worn a 36aa and use to find it really hard to find bras with such a big back and small cup.
so after having my B/A back in december i couldnt believe that the time had finaly arrived to get fitted. we made it a big day out in town, my daughter and mother came along with me.
i went to the lovely little bra shop that i had been told about, and couldn't believe the amount of different bras available. anyway the lovely lady took me behind the curtain and asked if i would slip off my top, which i did. she asked me wot bra i use to wear (i had told her about my B/A b4 stripping) i went on to inform her i had 36aa. she stood there and giggled at me, in a nice way, but still giggled. b4 even messuring me she told me there wasnt a hope in hell that i ask a 36 band. so next she messured me, and still didnt tell me anything just disappeared off to get some bras for me to try. i put on the 1st one she gave me and it was perfect, she if said ' i impress myself sometimes' then she told me wot the size was. . . . . . . . 32 DD OMG
i couldnt believe it i'd been completly wrong on the band size and couldnt believe i was a DD cup. i had started suffering with boobie greed and i was sure i wouldnt be any bigger than a C cup!! he he he
hope you dont mind me sharing me news with you girls, i'm just so excited xx

Congratulations on your first proper "big girls bra", so glad after hearing about big shops who offer a bra fitting and measuring service and then are rubbish, that you found a small specialist shop where the staff know their stuff.
What sort did you buy, I am coming up 6 weeks post op and don't even know what style of bra I like yet? I actually went to the specialist lingerie shop in town before I had my BA (never even been in a specialist shop before) and asked for assistant's advice of what size she thought I could get away with asking PS for - she had me trying on 32DD's, can't wait to go back in and show her what I got for Xmas and see if I got my 32DD's!
If you did buy a bra, was it underwired and how comfortable is it? xx

Re: 1st Bra fitting after B/A & ever!!!
did get one bra, it's a bit like Kittie's in her picture - but bright pink :)
i worn it out Sat night for about 5 hours, it has wires. i'm back in my sports bra for work just 4 the comfort. the wires felt okay but i think it helpped that she made sure i fitted really well in it. the only thing is it feels strange to be in wires again. i felt like i kid again trying to get use to wearing a bra.
the women in the shop even advised me to by no more than 1 or 2 as she said my boobs will change again over the coming weeks, talk about 100% on customer service. i will be going back there again.
it really is a shame that these big stores cant offer better advice to women buying bras, but this one was fab!

OMG, I bet you're over the moon aren't you Narn?? What a lovely story. I'm still waiting for a few more changes before I go for a fitting, but I just might seek out a more specialist shop if they have any down here in my town.
Thanks for sharing, it really was lovely

Oh you have really made my day. I was also a 36AA and yes I agree that finding any bras that fit that small a cup with that big a back is next to impossible.
Im lucky and have a specialist bra shop in the town I live in, so I shall make that my first stop in four weeks time. Congratulations xxx

Re: 1st Bra fitting after B/A & ever!!!
Jolene - you normally can go for a fitting after 6 weeks, I am 6 weeks tomorrow but trying to hold off going for a fitting until I see my PS again in 3 weeks as haven't got the go ahead to wear underwired bras yet - but I don't know if I can hold out that long. Sounds like the small independent shops seem to know how to measure and fit better than the big chain stores and know their customers and stock better too, only trouble is I think I will need a bank loan to buy a bra as real ones seem to be 5 x more expensive than the primark gel bras I used to buy. xx
Narn82 - do you know what make your new sexy pink bra is? xx

Wow 6 weeks seems early, i thought i'd carry on changing for a long time after that!!!! I don't think i've seen one independent bra shop near me!!!!! On the subject of size, i have no clue what so ever what size i am likely to be at the mo, i have seen the girls talk about measuring and put up a link to a site, do you know what site this is? xxxxxx

Yes, it's Be Cheeky. Their bras are not cheap though, starting at roundabout £26 and many of the really nice ones are in the £40-£50 region.

Re: 1st Bra fitting after B/A & ever!!!
how long after ba do you start wearing sports bra/ bra with no wire, and then do you wear that until 6 weeks/whenever your ba gives you the ok for a wired bra? thanks :o)

Re: 1st Bra fitting after B/A & ever!!!
Hi kaboobie, you normally start wearing the sports bra immediately after the operation - although some clinics prefer to wrap you in bandages and you then go into the sports bra when they take these off between 4 to 7 days later.
A sports bra is worn 24/7 until the surgeon gives his OK to go back into wires - normally between 6 - 12 weeks after the operation. Again some surgeons differ from this saying not to wear for 24/7 and to go braless for some period of time each day as this can give them a chance to drop. You just have to trust your surgeon's views on this.

Re: 1st Bra fitting after B/A & ever!!!
to be honest girls i dont know the name of the shop, but she isn't a chain, just set up on her own. the bra cost £25 and although i thought i was going to have heart troubles there and then, it really was worth evey pennie.
Misf1 - bras never felt right on me before and i always thought it was due to no boob, guess it has the band size too. i use to send forever asking O/H to tighten up my straps over arms thinking that would work . . . .only to have him shout at me that its as tight as it will go!!!! Opps. at least i know now :) but like carol_s, said each PS is diffrent so go with their advice.
Kaboobie, i lived in my sports bra from day 1, 24/7 and still am, to be honest as much as i loved putting on lovely wired underwear i couldnt wear it all the time just let.
