My new boobies Empty My new boobies

Post by Jolene1984 30th January 2011, 6:15 pm

Hey girls,
Just wanted to update you on my progress and any feed back to make me feel this is normal would be great!!!
I had my op Thursday all went well and I have 450cc ( I left it up to my PS ). After my op I was so high on drugs I couldn't keep still ( was not nice felt totally out of it!! ), I ruptured a vein and lost half pint of blood so they left drains in!!!! Had to go back today and I'm still draining off too much so they have again left drains in, going back Tuesday to have dressings changed and see if drains can come out!!!! It's awfully awkward and I hate it but it will all be worth it!!
I'm swollen and have pointy boobies atm lol but other than feeling tight I haven't really been in any pain at all.
So all is well apart from I'm slightly worried about the amount I'm draining off, has anyone else had this problem????
Hope everyone is ok have missed chatting but have been under bed arrest lol, I'm a bad patient I hate staying still!!!! Guess that's half the problem!!!!

Hi Jolene,
Sounds like you are doing well apart from the vein. What a pain.
Sorry I can't help, I have never had any operation and pre BA. Hope it all sorts itself quickly and I am sure someone will be along soon with a similar problem.
I am sure they would not have sent you home if it was not so bed xxx

Hi sweetheart, it probably looks a lot, but not a lot to really worry about - but you do need to rest and not move about too much (which I know must be difficult with young children to see to). Are you at home or staying with parent's/friends???
If you really think about it, ½ pint of blood is not really that much as you give a pint when you are a blood donor and just have a cup of tea and then get back to work - although having the drains in for that amount of time would have driven me up the wall, it was bad enough for a not even a full day LOL, so you have my utmost sympathy there.
I'm sure you should be fine by Tuesday and then it'll be just plain sailing the rest of the way Hug

Hi Jolene, My friend had unders and she lost alot of blood. It took a week for it to slowly begin to clot and stop and only then were the drains removed. Im sure everything will be fine. I bet it feels like an eternity having to lay in bed and try not to move.....but will definately be worth it in the long run! As for the pain killers i loved em! I was able to do my housework quicker than ever - and with a smile on my face Hysterical
Take care hun xxx

Hi Jolene, I had unders but no drains, sorry to hear you've got to keep them in a while longer, but yes it will all be worth it. Swollen, pointy, tight boobs is just how I felt last week, but day by day it really does get better. I have 2 kids and have been really strict with myself in terms of not doing too much and I think it has def helped my recovery. So if you can keep still (ish) for a few more days (and hopefully you have some help?) then try, try, try! xxx

Aw so sorry its not been simple and straight forward for you. What a bummer having drains in for so long! You've just got to try and relax as much as possible and distract yourself with tv and reading, and of course this forum! So the time passes as quick as possible. It will be over soon and you will have very lovely boobies xxxx

Hi girls,
So many comments to reply to so sorry if I miss any!!!
I'm at home but I have kids dad here helping me, but I'm crap at staying still!!!! I think the longest I've stayed still for is a few hours sleep!!!! I know I should be resting but I hate staying still, I ended up cleaning the bathroom yesterday ( and got told off ), I really need to rest or I'll never get these drains out!!!!! They are a total pain and look gross!!!!!
Got told off by the nurse today, if I don't stay still and rest I could ruin my boobs she told me, is this true????
I'm such a figet it's unbelievable!!!! Plus I hate mess!!!! Luckily the kids are being great, surprised me with a giant choc heart cookie this morning for my birthday bless them ( then they ate it!!! ).
Thank you all for your comments, I will try my hardest to rest and just hope I haven't hurt my new boobies, which are so fab already lol xxxxxx

Hun I know it's hard but you really have to stay still, Yes you could make healing very difficult and maybe ruin the new boobies. Just imagine your arms are stuck to your sides. No cleaning, absolutely no lifting. Rest rest rest. You have had a major operation and need to heal, the more you rest the quicker you'll be up and about again. If you dont you face possible complications and a long healing time. Maybe stop taking the pain killers and just take paracetamol.

Hey misf1, I'm not taking any pain killers haven't needed to I'm not in any pain at all!!!! It's all very strange, i obviously should be in some discomfort but apart from them being tight and if I touch where the drains are a bit sore I'm totally fine!!!! Don't think that is helping, when you feel fine you think you can do anything!!!!
Thanks girls I'll try and rest and I'm sure I'll be fine.
How long do I have to not clean for??

Morning hunnie,

I had drains in after my first BA and unders but they were removed before I left the hospital so basically I am no help! Alls I can say is what everyone else is saying you need to rest so everything can clot and then you can have them removed! They are so Inconvienent rant they! Have you mastered taking them everywhere with you!!

You must be going nuts but just remember it will all be worth it once they are out and your beautiful boobies have settled down.

Great to hear your not in any pain that is brilliant!

Take care and hopefully they will be out after your next appointment, all our fingers are crossed for you x x x x x

sorry it didnt go completely smoothly, but you really should rest up now, or youll cause yourself no end of problems.
You really will kick yourself later if you dont, and youve spent a hell of a lot of money on this, so please, take the doctors advice.

now, go to bed and happy healing xx

Post by sarahdawn31 31st January 2011, 9:51 am

Hi hun,
Congrats on the new boobies!
I had drains after my ba and uplift and I spend the night and they were going to take them out the next day but like you I was draining a lot so they left them in and sent me home... I ended up having them out 2 days after that so 3 days with drains... so dont worry its better they r in and getting all that yucky stuff out. Before you know it they will b out and you will feel a million times better. Even though the drains dont hurt they are a bit of a nussance and make you feel gross having to cart them around.
I hope you feel better soon! x

Hey girls,
I am really staying still and resting now ( for me) it's driving me mad I'm such an active person!!!!
I have mastered the art of moving around with the drains, a few times I've nearly trod on them when getting up for the toilet!!!! I think I'm one of those ppl who are constantly rushing around so this is really hard for me!!!!
I'm really trying not to move about as I want the best result possible, but it's like I'm on auto pilot sometimes I forget my boobs and pick up the dirty cups!!!!
Thanks Sarah that's made me feel a bit better I just hope they take them out tomorrow it's already been 5 days!!!!
Today my stitches on my right side are feeling a bit sore and painful is this normal?? also this boob seems to be a bit lower than the other one, surely it couldn't have dropped already???
